Luv u.

On Wednesday night Simon said the following while watching American Idol and eating an apple before bed:

"Luv u apple."

"Luv u mom."

"Luv u cars."

"Luv u slide."

On Thursday night Mom, Simon and I ventured down to the Goodwill to see what treasures we could find. As usual Simon made his way back to the toy secton, chanting "toys." He spent some time checking things out, looking through the piles, seeing if there was anything he could not live without. When I told him it was time to go he didn't grab anything (I had told him we were going to the dollar store to get bubbles). But, as we were walking back through the store he spotted something. A game. Mouse Trap. Still in the box. He picked it right up and started walking toward the door. Alrighty then. For $1.99 you can't beat whatever we might find inside the box.

When we got home we opened it up and all the parts were there. Somehow he could tell that there was something in there he would love.. A marble and a slide - among other cool pieces to set up the game. But to him, it was all about the marble going down the slide.

He had a tough time going to be Thursday night because I took the marble away. He woke up early to play with the slide and marble. On the way to school Friday morning I told him that he was going to have to leave the marble and the silde in the car. His response:

"Luv u slide."

"Luv u marble."

"Luv u mom."

I know this feeling:) Not much can beat it.
I remember when Ellie was stuck on this playground thing - she was probably 2 1/2 - and she yelled "help momma" numerous times before I realized it was my child yelling this because I really didn't know what her voice sounded like:( I remember sitting there in disbelief after helpinng her down. rocked

what a great kid. too bad we all get so hung up in the complex and tend to forget the simple joys.

Mouse Trap is AWESOME! (Or as Calvin calls it Mouse Trouble) He loved that game too at age 3 until we lost the heavy metal marble. Regular marbles aren't heavy enough for the man to flip off the diving board. And $1.99, can't beat that price.
Great story too. I love how they "love" everything at that age.

Wonderfully sweet store -- especially the luv part...
We just celebrated Queen's Day here -- one of the best parts, outdoors is an all day secondhand store. Victor picked up a truck and race car he's so in love with right now!!!! Won't let them go.

I found a Mouse Trap game at a Tsunami fundraiser garage sale at my church, but my husband got so frustrated with it, he made me take it back. Mine was $1 (canadian). :)

Ali, Mousetrap is great! What a find for $1.99! You might want to get Simon one of those plastic marble runs that you can put together - both my boys loved it - a definate long term toy (satisfies that "how things work" need the kiddos have).
