Fonts.

Menow

The Creating Garden theme on Two Peas this month is fonts. Something near and dear to me. Love those letter forms. Love words. Love layering and maniplating and playing. I also love the convergence of traditional and digital scrapbooking. What a wonderful marriage. That I could create the above collage in Photoshop, print it out, and attach it to a page which resulted in this layout:

Some other pages that tickled my fancy this month:

Master Yoda

...see the world...

love card

Dinnertime

First Photo

"N-O"

So Sad

Hit the Road, Jack

October Sky

So many cool pages this month. Love seeing how the other girls play with type. It is easy to get bound up or in a rut when using fonts. Or feel intimidated with ALL the choices out there. I have tons of fonts loaded on my computer. I find myself reaching for many of the same ones over and over. The just do it for me: Garamond, Baskerville, Myriad, 2Peas Hot Chocolate, Jack Frost, AL Modern Type (love most of those Autumn Leaves Typewriter fonts).

One of the great things is that products abound featuring fonts. Rub ons, stickers, patterned paper, metal embellishments - all these can be layered and matched up to create some of the same effects as in Photoshop. I think the key is allowing youself to play. To experiment. And not being afraid that you will "mess up." Remember, this is all about creating & having fun right?

There's no way to mess up when you're creating and having fun. There's nothing to fear.

I love the advice!! I have to admit, I have NEVER mixed fonts. I am a matchy matchy kind of girl. After seeing these layouts, hopefully I will be able to create out of my comfort zone. =0)

Totally loved that layout! The Garden this month was awesome, such a great example of different styles. Fell in love with several pages! I love the way you play and create with Fonts, but I've never experimented much myself. I'm thinking I need to change that...loving the cool things you can do in Photoshop, just need to play more. Do you have a good book that you can recommend on the program, one that explains how to do a lot of that kind of stuff? I have the Photoshop CS program.
Enjoying all your recent posts, Ali---you have such an amazing take on life, creativity, etc... Your rummage sale find was pretty cool. I need to start checking out those garage sales more often, lots of good stuff to be found. Just never seems to be enough time for all the things I want to do....

Ahhhh...fonts! I can be brave with anything involving fonts! I don't quite feel comfortable with the layering in PhotoShop, but I'm getting there. Needed a little push to go beyond the normal photo manipulation right not - thanks for the inspiration!
