Cool storage & a call to life artists.

Target

Being the bunny this morning at Target and came across these cool little bins in the dollar section. A great little open storage solution for whatever kind of stuff you may just happen to have in your home or office. I think I may also use them as a home for inks & tools during my workshops. Gotta love the lure of the dollar spot.

I started a photo album over on the right to feature life artists wearing goods from my Cafe Press shop. Take a photo of yourself and send it to me and I will add it to the album. Thanks for the cool idea Kimberly.

Love this.

In the comments yesterday Nancy asked a couple questions about photography and my camera. I mainly shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel that I adore. Great camera. Perfect for me. The lens that I pretty much have on there full time is the Canon 50 mm. For travel (when the big camera is just too bulky), I have been using the Canon Powershot SD500. It is a great little camera - the main downfall is that you have to be really careful to keep it steady. I love that it fits in my pocket.

For the shots of my hands yesterday I did hold the camera in my left hand to take pictures of my right. No flash. Always have it off. I am a flash off girl. As for photography education, I took one class from our local community college - I think I have learned most simply from observing the shots that others have taken. People like Tara and Jamie Waters so many other awesome scrapbook photographers. And I take a lot of pictures. The more you take the more you see what you love.

I shoot in automatic - not enough room in my brain to learn manual techniques right now. And I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 for my photo editing. That version is the professional one which is way more than most people need. Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 isgreat (and significantly less expensive) for what most people want/need to do.

Along the same lines, Annie asked about my printer. I use an Epson Stylus Photo 1280. This is a wide format printer (meaning you can run a 12x12 sheet through it) and I love it. Looks like there is a $100 rebate on that one right now too. I have had this printer for a couple years now and love it.

And thanks for all the heads up emails on the adhesive. I think I will be stocked for years now!

Hope you all have a lovely Easter. We get to meet up with my brother and pregnant sister-in-law and I am so excited to see them. It has been too long.

Peace to you and yours!

My dear Ms 'A'.... You have created 'quite a community' for yourself and others. I am but a 'Granny', probably older than your own mother and have watched with admiration and even pride (as if you were my own) since your first appearance on 2peas. I applaud your amazing work, I congratulate you on your wonderful accomplishments and dedication. Not just as 'Life Artist', but also as wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend. We know your struggles, we share your joy, we scraplift your talent!
Carry on Ali Edwards and thank you for making your community... our community.

Thanks for the thumbs up on the printer - I've been thinking about a 12x12 capable printer for a while and that rebate means more money to go in my Canon DSLR fund. Oh, okay, new baby fund (but a nice DSLR is a good new mummy treat, right??!). Wishing you (and everyone who reads your blog) a happy Easter. May the bunny bring you yummy eggs and no cavities!

    Ali,
you may want to tell ppl about picasa photo software free from Google. it does everything plus has a great cataloging system for your photos. another cool (& free) program that I like is qimage. it's mostly for printing, but is very rich in capabilities.

Love those tins- bought a few the last time they were in the $1 section... just be careful, sometimes the metal on the bottom is jagged and can scratch your surface! :o)

Happy Easter to you and your family too Ali.
Everytime I read you blog it seems like you let me know about something I just "have" to have. I don't know if that's good or not. :) One question do you LOVE the picture quality of this printer? Or do you usually send your pictures away to get printed? I have a HP printer right now and I still think my photo developers' pictures come out better.
    Thanks,
    Sara M
