AEzine Challenge: Try On Style

This week I challenged you to "try on" someone else's style. Pick a layout/project from a magazine or an online gallery and replicate it. Ask yourself those questions from above as you go about the process of creating your own version. If you find while you are creating that something does not feel like it is "you" than adapt as you go along. Simply make a note to yourself of what felt not quite right - this is something that you could jot down in your own style/idea notebook for future reflection.

So excited to see the results from this one - put a link in the comments so we can check out your awesome work!

I am taking off for The Scrapping Bee early Friday morning - supposed to be a lot of snow there so I am hoping for a safe trip. Peace.

Have a safe trip! I wish I could be at the Bee for your classes--I'll be at my company's holiday party. I know I'd have more fun at your classes!!

    Hi Ali,
I know that this comment is a few blogs behind, but I was struck at your comment re: photos of Simon eating breakfast as a beautiful thing. I was blown away by that and then heartened at the photos I took of my daughter doing homework. It is the dailiness that we crave, isn't it? There's more truth there than at any "special event" layout that I've done. Thanks for making me pause and think...

    Hey Ali,
This is my first response to any of your challenges. I'm very new to digital scrapping and thought I would apply the challenge to this new arena in my life (even though I don't even have a digital scraping style yet). I found a blog site somewhere with a page that had only pictures and words. No extras! A page with no emblishments? I wasn't sure if I could pull it off -- my paper scrapping style is very dependent on emblishments! However, immediately I thought of your challenge (try on someone else's style) and knew I had to do it. Here's what I came up with.
Oh yes, your creations, your ideas and your passions are a blessing to the rest of us.
    Have a safe weekend.

    Ali,
Once again I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge. Here's my layout; inspired by Elsie Flannigan.

I haven't scrapped in such a long time, but the last time I was really inspired by someone else it was right after Cathy Zielske's 2nd book came out. So, here's my lift from one of her layouts:

    Hi Ali!
I just this minute finished blogging about using magazines as inspiration, then started my nightly blog reading with your blog, and found this! How funny. Great minds, and all that! :)
You've never heard of me, so I hope it doesn't freak you out to know that you're on my list of things to do before I die. #89. Scrap with Ali Edwards. :D
These layouts aren't brand new, and I didn't do them for this challenge... (I'm behind on my AEzine reading. I should get right on that, huh?)... but they're here:

    Hi Ali:
You are definitely a daily blog hit for me and I LUV your CK articles! I just finished a page for the DW Color blog challenge and while creating it I felt the need to do something with a western style. I hope you enjoy it.

Have a fun and safe trip Ali! I loved this week's challenge! I had a hard time picking just one layout to "try on" so I opted for doing several pages. Here is my entry for today:

    Hi Ali'
Safe trip, and thanks for the challange. I used Kristina Contes from the Dares "Thankful" Even as we travel in our 5th wheel, I still try to do something creative everyday. Thanks so much for your continued inspiration.

I completed my first challenge. I would like to have put a little more time in to it but did my best with family in town. My inspiration is Rhonna Farrer's style. I look forward to doign this challenge every week moving forward. Please let me know what you think:

This was an incredibly eye-opening exercise. Usually I gravitate towards LOs that ARE my style, so I decided to go for something that isn't something I'd normally pick and try it on for size.
I picked Elsie's style and found a LO I thought I could do. I obviously changed some things about it, which I wrote about in the actual post with the LO pics, but it's very "KimElsie" in the end. ;-) This really helped me see what my style is and is not! Thanks Ali!

I love the idea of trying on styles. I do it a lot -- I mean I have enough magazines and books for inspiration for goodness sakes! Anyway - here is a layout I did a while ago, but specifically trying to capture Ali's style. The second is also trying to capture more of the Ali style. What I love about your work Ali, is that I can keep looking at it and seeing more than I saw the first time. Love that : )

I just finished my "try on" someone else's style layout. I picked one of Cathy Z's from her latest book. It was fun because I hardly ever use my computer when I am creating.

This is my first time doing the challenge. I found it harder to figure out how to get my pages visible online than doing the pages themselves (hey! I'm new at this!). So I set up this little blog, which I don't particulary like, but I do like the pages that this week's challenge inspired. Thanks Ali!

This is a layout I made from Karlas lovely quotes book she posted on her site. I really adore her work and I even used her as inspiration before you asked to do this challenge... must have been some kind of vision I had, lol.

I don't know how much of an actual lift this is - but I was inspired the other day to pick up a stamp or two to use on a layout after you showed us that darling layout you did using several stamps. LOVE Catslife Press too - so I used my new stamp on this layout.
