Simon Says:
After I said the prayer tonight I asked him if he wanted to say anything else. His response:
"Thank you God for golden butterfly.
Thank you for baby condors. (Both of those are from Diego.)
Thank you for cheese.
Thank you for water.
Thank you for applesauce.
Thank you for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Thank you for Santa."
Santa is still really big around here. Santa is the only person he will talk to on the phone. Today he talked to Santa Leslie & Rachel at the CK offices and left a message for Santa at Grandpa Gary and Grandma Susan's house saying, "where are you Santa."
Awesome.
And I just heard a little voice coming from his bedroom singing "do re me fa so la ti do."
Seriously awesome.
And all those words you have been leaving today are totally filling me up. I can't wait to read more on Monday and see what you create.
Totally feelin' the isn't it 'great to be a mama' quote from one of your recent posts! Simon sounds adorable and that is one of the most AMAZINGLY awesome pictures of him!!! Your pictures (and cocoa daisy miniBOOKS) rawk!
Speaking of Santa, my 4 year old son is still in the Santa spirit and while we played dinosaurs today, he said 'Santa Dinosaur left presents for all the dinosaurs today'. Love it, so I'm totally good with Santa and the Christmas spirit staying around!

Ah, the simple pleasures of children - wouldn't it be nice to be thankful for small things like cheese instead of trying to strive for perfection? He sounds like a delightful little boy who gives you much joy! I am having one myself in another 5 months!

As I said in my previous comment, my word for this year will be CELEBRATE...sooo, in the spirit of that, let me say to you, CELEBRATE SIMON!

Children are still preceptive to the little things in life. Their voice is pure and innocent - way better and much more intelligent than our pragmatic point of view. You are lucky to have Simon reminding you of the better vantage point of life.

I wanted to take a day and night to really think about the word, my word for the year. I decided after much mulling in my head that my word is Risk. I used to be quite a risk taker but in recent years have backed away from it. But I have decided I will be more open and willing to take risks again this year. I am excited to see where this will lead me, so inspiring to think about the possibilities. Thank you Ali for that life and creative challenege. Linda

I don't even know what to say. I don't have a word yet, your post about Simon about tears to my eyes and I just love reading your blog. It's like a personal inspiration. I don't know how you hold it all together. My son is being diagnosed w/adhd and I have days where I just sit and cry and how you pull through what you have on your plate is amazing to me! God Bless you and your family. Simons right too, Thank God for Cheese...

Aaaah, the magic of children and their tiny little souls. Love it. Got some unexpected joy from one of my own children yesterday in the form of a song and a quote. My 2 year old sang a song in the car yesterday called "Mary Had a Little Man..." and on the way home from work last night, she was pretending to be Santa and was speaking in a very deep voice and said "Ho! Ho! Ho! Verrrrryyy Christmas!" Unexpected smiles and bits of laughter are so very very good.
