AEzine Challenge: The Good Stuff

Essentials

I almost completely forgot what day it was today. I had lunch with my friend Tricia and we got a bit distracted at Old Navy and a couple other fun places.

The challenge from this week's AEzine went something like this: This week I want you to take a look at those "extras" that are truly delighting you right now and making you want to create. Make a list and then CREATE a layout that details your favorites. I love how people ended up making layouts about their essentials - very cool idea.

Fresh flowers are totally on my list of "good stuff" - I am all about tulips right now.

Can't wait to see what you guys did with this one.

I need to get some tulips! It's -1 degree here today, and tulips would be a lovely reminder of warmer things to come!

Question for the AEzine...I typically scrap 12x12 pages & keep them in 12" 3-ring binder albums. However, I recently received a beautiful 8x8 album from a friend. Any suggestions on what type of projects I could use this album for? Thanks!

Hi Ali, I'm with you regarding the fresh flowers. I have a HUGE case of Spring Fever (even though it's CRAZY foggy out over here, LOL).
Anyway...I haven't got my LO done yet. Funny thing though, I was planning on doing a LO with most of these on it before you even gave us this challenge! I'm working on it now but have to figure out a couple of things. Here is my list of "Goodies" though...
    Chipboard-I LOVE Chipbaord!
Paint-I have found myself using paint on just about everything I have done recently.
Glitter-I just love the look of it.
Flowers-I don't use alot of them on my pages, but I LOVE the look of them and am ALWAYS drawn to them. I think I would use more on my pages if I could figure out how without them looking gawdy.
    Buttons-ESPECIALLY

Buttons-ESPECIALLY old, ORNATE, silver ones or old Dichroic glass ones. Just LOVE the look of them.
Fabric-ANOTHER thing I have found myself using alot of lately. I LOVE old scraps of fabric.
Ribbon-I LOVE ribbon. I may not use it as much as I TRY to use it but if anything I LOVE the look of it in my storage jar on my desk or on its storage cards. There are a couple i have (a pale pink crushed velvet & 2 crochet ones) that I TOTALLY LOVE!
Transparencies-I haven't used them much. I think the one I'm using on the LO I'm working on may be the 1st. And I also feel VERY LOST & UNSURE of myself using them. BUT!!!I TOTALLY LOVE the look of them! Your book is one of my absolute FAVORITE pieces! I just LOVE the way you used them in it! I have a little project in mind where I am going to use several transparencies (IF I can find them) so wish me luck, LOL.
Well, I think I've taken up enough of the board today. I HOPE this didn't end up posting twice (my computer froze and when it came back it was Posting!)! If it did this thing is going to be a complete NOVEL!
    Take Care & Happy Creating,
    Amy

Don't have time to do a layout right now, but I would definitely say that fresh flowers are also on my list. For me though, it's not fresh flowers that I can get at the store. It's fresh flowers that I can grow myself. I currently have a utility shelf in my garage that is packed with pots. Each pot has something fun starting to poke above the surface of the soil. I have Tulips, Daffodils (my personal favorite), Alliums, and Wood Hyacinths. Flowers start blooming here around the end of February, so I'm starting to get excited for spring! My scrapbooking has been on hold lately because I've been getting my yard ready. But I've been taking lots of pictures, so when we get a cold or rainy day, I'll be able to play with pictures of my garden on scrapbook pages! Thanks for your constant inspiration.

I bought 5 bunches of tulips at the farmer's market this weekend and they are now all over the house. Love them! Some of them are a shade of peach that makes my heart stop. So beautiful.

I wasn't going to participate in this one, b/c I didn't want to do a LO about stuff. I'm just no good at "stuff" lo's. Then I saw that everybody else was just doing regular ole LO's with their favorite stuff on 'em, and realized I am way too literal. So here's mine.

Here are mine for this challenge. I combined it with the one about the essentials from last week, so it is a little long, but it was fun to do. No layouts, just lists.

Ali, I posted a layout where I made sure to use all of my current favorite extras, and then at the bottom of my blog post I list exactly what they are and why I love them. You just have to read through the journaling and the design tip to get to that part.
    Here it is:

I totally love your tulips! They are one of my favorite flowers too. I've created some origami tulips that I just love, they are so bright and cheery, especially this time of year.
