A very special thank you.

I have been thinking over the past few weeks about what I could do as a thank you to all of you for the awesome support you have shown to Autism Speaks (and to me and my family) over the last few months.  No matter whether we end up with the number one spot (the top 6 receive a matching donation up to $10,000), we as a group of people have done something awesome.

Of course, number one is a good place to be. Love watching the power of the people.

Sitting here today, getting ready for classes this weekend in Vancouver, BC at ARTistry, I thought of an idea: I can share a class with you - instructions & supply list. I was going to wait until the end of the contest to post this, but I am just feeling really inspired and excited today and want to share this with you NOW.

This is a fun mini-book: filled with different textures and goodies that help you celebrate the life of someone you love yesterday, today, tomorrow - always. This is an updated version of a class I have taught a few times over the last year. Enjoy it.

Looks exciting, thank you for sharing. Is there any chance of you doing more classes on-line for those of us who don't live in the US and can't make it to your real life classes? Have been waiting to use that Maya Rd album, what perfect timing.
    Thanks again

I had a dream last night that Kevin decided to match exactly what we had raised-- and Autism Speaks wound up receiving 50 thousand dollars!
You are so sweet to share the class info. I think I'm going to make one for Jack for his birthday in June. Now to figure out a way to make it durable enough for him to carry it around everywhere.

Golly, Ali, thanks so much! I have never done a mini album (I'm pretty much the only person out there that hasn't I think!), so I just need to get over my fear of doing one. :) Thanks again!

You are so sweet to do that.
But for me, just what you are doing is thank you enough. Reading your blogs for the past several months has really helped me,personally, through my ds's diagnosis.
I admit, that even though I knew since he was under 1 y/o, that he did have autsim, I did not take the words well.
Frustration, anger, every emotion imaginable, I felt.
I don't know remember how or what drew me to your blog, but your openness and willingness to share Simon as been really truly mind saving.
My ds is 3 and you can see it in eyes his brain is working.:) Just not the words.
Today I got the news that he can start this school yr for preschool. I cried. I know I will cry when he starts but I am really really excited for what he will learn and experience.
    Thank you. :)

Have been following your donations carefully, Ali. But, didn't give until tonight. . .
I teach middle school. We got word yesterday that one of our teachers who works specifically with students with behaviors on the severe end of the autism spectrum died unexpectedly. She gave so generously of herself to all of our students and staff members. Giving to Autism Speaks is a great tribute to her.

This is really so sweet of you. Thank you so much. You honestly have already done so much for the people who read your blog. Before I started checking it daily, I knew almost nothing about autism. You've educated me (and everyone else) about the day-to-day joys and struggles. You are such an inspiration to us and a testament to what a difference one person can make.

Ali - thank you for posting the mini album class. Also, thank you for your willingness to share your life with us. In reading your blog daily, I am repeatedly awed by your spirit. Your heart is full of love...for your family, friends, strangers and the world around you. Thank you for being "you".
    I agree with Cari's post:
You inspire me to be a better person every day.

    Sweet:-)
I just came to post a request/beg that you attend CKC in Phoenix next September. My best friend (who lives oh so far away) and I are going to meet there, and we'd both LOVE to take a class of yours.
And now we can, via your blog. I have an 8x8 Maya binder that had me feeling clueless on how to begin. Now I know where I'll start!
I wasn't able to give much, but I gave the first day and have enjoyed watching the numbers climb. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to contribute, and lifting us all with your spirit and your generosity.
Of course, I'm STILL hoping you'll want to go to Phoenix in September!
