a technical question

Does anyone know how you can share a calendar between a mac + a pc? Is there a certain program that will do that? Ideally we would like it to be able to sync automatically when either Chris or I add something new. Right now I run iCal between my computers, but Chris is working on a pc.

Suggestions?

hey ali... the only thing imight suggest is setting up microsoft outlook as your default email server... i think you can do that even with a mac these days? then with outlook you can create public calendars and allow one another to view, update, change them, etc. hope this helps!

I was going to say Outlook too. Another thing you can look into is the new google calendar.

One other option would be google calendar...he can have one in one color and you in another and Simon in a third and you can view all three on one calendar page with the entries in different colors. DH and I use this and its a life saver...then when ever one of us adds something, it automatically appears for the other one.

Hey - email Brad. He set up some way that we can do this. I can view his calendar online and such...
Of course, that was prior to me getting a mac and being able to iChat with my iFriends. ;)

Google calendar I believe has features where you can set permissions for others to view...not sure if that would work with your existing calendar, though. Good luck finding the right solution!

Another vote for Google calendar. My hubby and I both have a "gmail" email account, and we can share our daily schedules (I have a Mac and he has a PC also). Good luck!

Try RSSCalendar. It has list of the programs its works with in Windows, Mac and web programs (if you wanted to calendar events to your blog.) It's pretty neat.

If you already have events set up in your Mac iCal, you can upload whatever you have on your Mac iCal onto a Google calendar. I did that for each existing calendar in my iCal (I have everyone in my family color-coded - there are 5 of us - and each separate calendar "resides" on my main calendar). Once I uploaded the other calendars to google - I stopped using iCal. Though it can be a bit of hassle because I have to open the browser in order to see and input calendar events - it allows me retrieve the calendar (as well as add events) on my Treo phone, too, which comes in handy if I'm somewhere and need to make an appointment.

I also get my email in google mail, and my husband and I both use the google calendar. We can both add to it and, as previously commented, we have ours in different colors. There are two of us, and two active daughters, and it keeps us from over scheduling. My husband can see it at work, and I can print out a hard copy of the month, if need be, to put the dates in my day planner, too! My 12 1/2 year old can also look up "her calendar", too. :)

My husband and I share a calendar on gmail - the calendar is web based, and we can both edit and view it.

The Google calender has been a great help in getting together with 5 of my close friends. We had a heck of a time and sent hundreds of emails around trying to find times to get together that worked with all of our schedules.
Google was so handy for us all to compile our family and work activities and it made it easier to find a free moment that we had to get together. Yippee!
The down side is that I can't upload it to my Palm the upside is that i can access it from any computer with internet.

A lot of people have already said it, but Google Calendar is definitely the way to go. Doesn't sync with a PDA, but if a phone has internet capabilities it can be accessed. Easiest cross-computer sharing ever.

I know it's been mentioned a few times already but I thought I'd suggest it, too. Google Calendar might be a good way to go for you.
