an end + a beginning + my word

In between working on projects, still battling this ear infection/cold, getting ready for tonight's festivities, drinking coffee, etc, I cleared off the boards above my computer. I do this every so often and today seemed like a pretty good day to invite something new. I am also changing things up by adding some clipboards on the other wall next to my desk for project organization (inspired by Lotta Jansdotter's studio tour).

A fresh start. A new beginning.

I took everything down, put the things worth keeping in an inspiration notebook, and am now ready for new images, new words, new things to motivate + inspire + help me grow in 2008.

For me, in 2008, I am looking forward to getting to the heart of the matter - whatever that is. Clearing away excesses. Focusing on the most important things and not worrying about the rest. Taking a deep breath and beginning one foot in front of the other.

My word for 2008: vitality.

Vitality is the state of being strong and active; energy. Physically. Mentally. Spiritually. Creatively.

Here's to moving forward. To fullness of life. To you and yours.

If you have decided on a word for the year I would love to read what it is - feel free to share in the comments.

Also: Loved this post over at Photojojo on Photo Resolutions. And I think this is the year I will do a 365 project.

    Happy 2008 ~~~~~
I participated in last years word, I chose BELIEVE....Believe in everything you do, believe you can do well, believe in all that you are ....
I love your blog and read it almost daily. I love your positive approach to life, your caring and loving parenting skills and that you are such an inspiring and fantiastic artist. Thank you for taking time to share with all of us !!!
My word for 2008 is SIMPLIFY. Simplify my daily life, clear out the clutter which will simplify my house, simplify my creative process (sometimes just do it, not agonize if it will be okay), simplify my shopping (do I really need it?) and simplify my entire self.
If it will be simple , it can be accomplished. If I can simply do it - I will succeed. If I do it now, the task list will simply be less. Always think - does it really need to be that intense? Do I need to do all of the things that are asked of me? Do I really have to say yes all the time to others? What will that mean that I will give up or have to give up, or not have time to do for my daughter and myself? I am not doing the simplify to be selfish, just to be more clear on the daily universal tasks that our lives give to us. Not being overwhelmed and anxious. To live simply meaning for me to simplify the life I live.
    Enjoy the new year.
    Peace
    Carole / Olympia Washington

I love your word! I was going to pick simplify/organize, but then I really liked the complexity of your word. So I changed mine to PASSION/PASSIONATE.
I want to have PASSION for everything.
    Relationships.
    Work.
    Family.
    Friends.
    Scrapbooking.
    Life.
Thank you for always inspiring me to push myself and be a better me.
Have a Happy New Year full of Vitality!

Hi Ali and Happy New Year!
I didn't choose a word for 2007 but I am for 2008/ My word is COURAGE. I have been through some upsetting and challenging things the past year and more even as the year has ended. I find myself in a place where I sometimes sit in fear just waiting for the next bad thing to happen. But I have weathered it all and come through and I will continue to do so. "Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared." --- Edward Rickenbacker
So I will move foward and have courage in 2008.
Thanks for always inspiring me, Miss Ali.
    God bless you and yours.

These are increditable! My word for the year is FAITHFUL. My desire is to acknowledge God's continued faithfulness in my life by being faithful in the big things and in the small. We often get to busy and break a promise, do the opposite of what was planned, give up, and go too fast. My desire is to explore the whole meaning of the word Faithful and experience it's meaning in my life.

My word last year was imperturbable. I made a scrapbooking page and used it as my screen saver at work. I think it helped somewhat, but I am tempted to keep it for another year... However, just wanted to share the link to a joint blog my dear scrapbooking friend and I set up to stay in touch while we are separated by the Atlantic ocean for 6 months... We've called it Happytriggers...
    www.happytriggers.blogspot.com
It has helped us both focus on what makes us happy, even though we are apart...
Still working on this year's word, but think it might be 'Remember'.

I started reading comments to get inspiration. I read one and realized "THAT IS IT!"
    balance.
I'm a new mommy, we just added on to our house, and I work from home, plus there is the scrapbooking, the banishing the clutter process- so many things to do. I need balance. I need to learn to live it, love it, and have it.
    balance. my word for 2008.

Wow, so many wonderful words since I was here yesterday. So very inspiring. I said I would be back once I picked my word and I have. It is, "transformation." I choose this because I want to transform into a new person in regards to my creative side, photography and truly open up a side of me that wasn't there. Come the end of 2008, I will be a new person, totally transformed.
    Here's to "transformation"
Good luck to everyone and their goals/words.
    hugs

My word for 2008 is COURAGE. Live courageously. Be full of courage in all things. Have the courage to try something out. Find courage deep within.
I've already made a mini-book full of courage quotes, but by far this one is my favorite:
"It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are." - e.e. cummings
So true and something that I want to work on - to continue to grow courageously and become more who I know I can be.

My word for this year is NOW. Live in the now, enjoy the now, do it now... I could go on. In the past I seemed to always be waiting to do something... waiting for things to get better... waiting for that perfect life! This year and for every year forward... I will have it all... NOW! One of my favorite quotes is by Louise Hay... 'the point of power is always in the present moment'. NOW. Looking forward to this year... all the best to you and your family Ali!

    This is an great idea.
My word for the year is enjoy.
I need to learn to enjoy simple and small things in life, like listen to the horses in our stable when there eating, Listen to the birds, look at my dog when he is running around and play, or when I see a beutiful flower.
I need this for getting back to life again after I have been burned out.
So my word will be enjoy, but in swedish the word is "njuta" and for me that word is stronger than enjoy, but they means the same.
    Sorry for my bad english.
    Have a happy new year.

My word for this year is IMMERSION. I feel as though I spent a large part of 2007 being distracted and focusing on too many things at once. This year I want to make sure I immerse myself in what is most important at that very moment.
I think it's going to be tough to live up to - I am expecting my second child in May, starting major renovations on our house in January and it looks like a busy year at work. I am determined though to make sure that when I am with my family, I am really WITH my family. I am going to take more photos (OK that won't be hard :)) and write down more observations about our everyday lives.
Oh, and THANK YOU. I received your Life Artist book for Xmas and have found it so inspiring.

My word for this year (I am using my Robo cutter to put the letters vertically on my laundry room door) is "flexible". I want it to be a constant reminder to me not be as set in "my" ways - to be more open minded, try new things, different ways.
Wishing you a very Happy New Year Ali.:)
