December Daily : Day 11 + CKU Chicago

Merry Tuesday.

There have been a couple questions in the comments the last few days about how I set up this album in the beginning. Here's a look at my December 2007 Studio A column from Creating Keepsakes where the original was first shown:

Essentially I started out with the acrylic front and back cover (from D Reeves Design House) and then added in a bunch of different sized pages that I cut down (mostly thick transparencies from Hambly and Narratives and a Heidi Swapp clock) and envelopes. I numbered each from 1 through 25 using a combination of chipboard, stickers, and circle accents.

Here's my entry for today:

For today's entry I printed out a photo of Simon checking out his Thomas Christmas set and adhered it to the back of a lined card (which fits right into the envelope).

As I was figuring out what I wanted to put on the photo I was excited to see that Designer Digitals has Photoshop brushes from Art Warehouse - especially this Christmas one and this one. I also loved Katie Pertiet's Christmas postage stamps. Red circle number tags are from Every Jot And Tittle. Envelopes from Paper Source.

In other news...
Registration for CKU-Chicago starts tomorrow night at 8pm Eastern. Check out all the details here: CKU-Chicago. Look for a bunch of cool changes including three full days of classes, a meet & greet on Wednesday night, boxed lunches on Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, and all new album tracks/classes.

My new album track, Evolution, is based on an album concept presented in Life Artist on page 116-117. For this project you can choose to document your own story,  or that of a child, parent, spouse, friend, etc. - pretty much anyone you choose (even a group of people). My album tells the story of my family unit over three different time periods: 1970's, 1980's-90's, and today.

If you can't make it to Chicago, the class will also be offered at the other two CKU events: Houston or Provo.

Ali, i've enjoyed checking in everyday to see what you've added to your December album. What a great idea. I LOVE the fact that the album was premade and you just had to add the photos and journalling. Because I'm sure that everyone out there (including myself)would never get this accomplished if you had to make the whole page each day.

    Hi Ali,
Love how you keep inspiring me. Not in duplicating your style, but giving room for my own creations and feeling good about them!!
Just wondering about the studio A columns. I love how you've uploaded them until september. Any chance you will upload the latest editions?
Thanks and have a great holiday,
    Marlies

    Hi Ali
Just wanted to say that I LOVE this album, also there is only about 3 weeks till I get to enjoy your new book - you see I bought it for my mother to give me for Christmas along with Becky's new sketches book and because I love Christmas so much I gave both books to her without having even one peek. So now it is killing me and to top it all off I wont be celebrating Christmas in Sydney with my family this year, we are off to NZ to see my husbands family. Sooooo I will not be in possession of your book again till 1st January!!!!!! But I will be sure to check out pages 116-117!!LOL
Anyway thanks as always for the AE inspiration!
    Cheers
    Jane

Ali, I was just wondering about a 2008 calendar... are you going to make one? I thought you said you would, but this year is almost up and I didn't see a new one in your Cafe Press shop.

On a brighter note though, thank you so much for showing us your December album daily and for always inspring!

    Hi Ali
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy seeing how your album is evolving each day. You are so inspiring as always!
p.s. though I don't do digital pages, I love how you incorporate hybrid elements sometimes. I will definitely have to give that a try.

Love, love following your album this month! Fabulous. I haven't been making an album but have been blogging Advent this year, with the possibility of creating a scrapbook from the entries eventually.
Stop by if you have a moment!
    Merry CHRISTmas, Ali!

    Ali,
So enjoying your December Daily album. I'm doing one myself, and really enjoying the "play" aspect that it brings to me. So cool. I have been wondering where you have came up with the grid transparencies. I haven't been able to find them anywhere, and was wondering if you create it, or if it perhaps was a stamp?
Also, I'm eagerly anticipating CKU-Houston to take your class. Are you planning on teaching there too? There will be no new little babies to keep me from going! ha.
Again, truckloads of thanks for all the inspiration on the acrylic album. Never would have ventured out on my own to do it, but SO enjoying it!!!
    Merry Christmas!!! Lorrie

Ali - two posts up I asked about the grid pattern. Complete Mommy moment I guess - just found them on Hembly's website. I had been looking at other storefronts, but forgot to check them & their great selection!
    Thanks! Lorrie
