The words.

Went through all the comments from the last few days tonight and collected all the words. Reading your words + your reasons were uplifting + inspiring. Thank you for sharing. If I missed your word leave a note in the comments section and I will add it to this list.

And there is always time to choose a word if you have not done so yet.

Hubs and I finally agreed that this will be The Year of the Do. We're going to create a sign where we can write projects we...have started but have not completed...need to start...am really behind in...family albums...family videos, etc. Welcome to The Year Of The Do.

After much consideration my word is
    Resplendent
I'm not sure what book on CD I was listening to lately that used this word. I immediately wrote it down--in my car. Doesn't it connotate layers of splendid living? As a yoga instructor I hear words like harmony, balance, and equanimity often. I considered those words and realized no other single word has prompted me to find paper and write in the car besides this one. As I balance, teaching, art, and home life may my life and those around me feel the meaning of this one word. Even if things don't go as expected, I'm so grateful for the resplendent in life.

    My word....bethink.
Grabbed it at the end of the year in my mind. I want to be the creative person I was, or at least develop more, since dealing with post partum depression.

Hello. I found you through Heidi at Mt. Hope Chronicles. Anyhow, I am surprised that my word's not on the list (yet!). It is Quiet.

My word most definately needs to be "mend". After 2 consecutive surgeries with a 3rd tomorrow and a 4th sometime this spring, I need "mend" in all senses of the word. Physical, yes, but emotional just as much.
    thanks, tonya
PS - I never commented on your post about the moles and the scars, but I want to tell you something that happened to me once. I had a boyfriend who once commented about my scars not being sexy. I replied, "Really? You know what I think is sexy? Being alive." That's why I say I HAD a boyfriend...LOL

This is a great list and I was sure someone else would have the same word as me but I don't see it. My word is CLEAN. As a working mom pregnant with twins I am in gread need of a cleaner environment, body and life. I want my body, home and scrapbooking to become cleaner and healthier for myself and my family.
Thanks for sharing so much of yourself on this blog. You really are amazing :)

Hi Ali, the list is awesome but my word I will be honouring this year is 'rediscover'. In May last year my younger brother passed away and the year seemed to literally fly by. So this year I am making myself rediscover the passion for my craft and of myself. There is so much emotionally, physically & spiritually that I will be focusing this year. Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers, Manola

I poured over this list. I debated and even discussed it with my husband. I decided upon balance. I need to find a way to balance my life. I need to worry less about my son , and balance the what I want to do and have to do.
Thanks for this great idea. Jess

    WOW, look at that list!
I didn't share my word yet....
    It is RELATIONSHIPS....
Now that my 'turning' 5-year-old son is cancer-free for a year, I have the time and realization and need to focus on the relationships with all 4 of my children, each day, ... with them all under 5 years old and everyone still at home (no school) I am busy....so....
I will continue to build a strong relationship and foundation with each of my 4 children (turning 5, 3 1/2, 1 1/2, and 5 mo). I will spend some quality time one-on-one with each child each day. I will continue to allow them simple choices. I will ask them to help me with chores so they feel part of the process. I will help shape their creative thinking. I will help them to set goals for their educational and personal growth. I will have conversations with them; I will listen more than I will talk. I will be silly with them every day.
I will renew my friendship with my husband....the past two years has taken a toll on our marriage of almost 8 years....at least once a week I will do something for us.
Those are the 5 relationships I will focus on in 2008. Although I definitely could add more, I need to really drive to the heart of our immediate family....
Thank you, Ali, for giving me this lesson in "one word," as I have never believed in "new year's" resolutions but to live and grow each day.
    Steph

I've just decided my word is going to be "engage". I feel like I spend alot of time simply being a spectator to my own life. So for 2008 I want to actively engage in my life for a change. I want to consciously participate not just spectate. Set goals and complete them. Scrapbook and not just read my mags. Already this week I've set goals to take photos, do some sewing and clean up clutter that I've left sitting around for a while. And I actually did it! Yay go me.
P.S. if tonya is looking for some help with keeping things clean she should really check out the Flylady at www.flylady.net

What a long list and a good choice of words!! I myself could use a combination of quite of few of those words. My choice though is Patience. I need patience with myself. When you have Fibro and a gazillion other things the docs throw at you, you always expect others to have patience with you but in reality, you need to have patience with yourself first. Something I aime to do this year. Who knows...it may open a new door for moi.

Thanks for posting the list!! I have been thinking of what my word could be this year. Originally I thought maybe DO because I tend to procrastinate and put off some important dos in my life but then I really thought about it and this last year has been about "do"-ing too much!! So much in fact that I have let some relationships slide and have not be intentional in cultivating them. Also, I have felt like my relationship with the Lord has suffered too from just wearing myself down to exhaustion. So the word for me this year will be RELATIONSHIP because for me there are so many facets I can explore. Take care~ Noreen

Thanks for the inspiring list. I've finally settled on mine: strength. I've got a lot of things that I want to do this year that will take strength and confidence in myself. (starting a crafty business with a chic modern edge.) I just need to set aside my fears, and take the leap (with a little planning, of course!)
    Thanks for the push!

I love this! What a scrumptious way to start out the new year! Thank you.
My word is: Produce. As in produce, do, act, move, create change.
and since I'm a Chef...produce: as in mangos, lychee, passionfruit, plump nectarines and bok choy, eggplant, ginger, lime and cilantro...
My saying is: Chase down your fears.
My number is one. Close your eyes. Call up the next dream on your list. Picture it in great detail. The colors, and textures, the people, the buildings, the smells and all the sounds. Open your eyes. Look into your hands. Do one thing TODAY to bring yourself closer to realizing that dream. Hold on. Own it. It's yours.
    My food is chocolate.
    My feeling is gratitude.
