Weekend in Photos + Book Signing.
Building train layouts. Seeing if he could connect all the tracks together in one loop from one end to another. This is one of those times where the parent has more fun than the kid.
Playing with the video camera + watching Ratatouille + eating some toast in Chris' home office.
Doing the laundry.
Watching the playback of Simon's at home ABC performance.
Playing with play dough on my table while I worked on the computer. This is one of those toys that had been put away for awhile and came back out on Saturday. He played with it for hours - making little Dora character molds, moving them around, having them "go to sleep" and "wake up time."
Just being thankful for everything we have.
BOOK SIGNING this SATURDAY: I will be doing a book signing this Saturday in Portland at Scrapbook Attack from 1pm-2:30pm. Come by and chat for a bit if you have a chance.
Edited: And hey, want to win a new pair of jeans? Check out my sister's blog today before 5pm Eastern.
Hi--love these glimpses into your everyday. I received two digital cameras for my birthday/Christmas so I've been playing around with them, taking everyday pictures. I followed your advice of not using a flash and I really prefer the way my pictures turn out. It's a continuing study of light and shadow. Thanks for the advice!

ooo, am i first?!
i love the picture of Chris and the train table. my 4yo son has now discovered he prefers building the train track himself on the floor and loves taking apart my hard work -not to mention need for an engineering degree- to make track + buildings all fit onto the train table.
loving your 365 day project.

I'm so glad my husband isn't the only guy out there that has as much fun (if not more) by creating Thomas the Train layouts! But to his credit....he's an engineer! I think it's wonderful to play like a kid again, and to have your children see that as well.

Seems like you had a wonderful weekend. Thanks for sharing those pics with us. My son loves Thomas and also has the Knapford station and my hubby likes to redo his tracks for him. Definitely something that he enjoys way more than my 3 year-old LOL!

Just wish I could drop in for the booksigning. I have a question about the "week in the life" project. I have read (several times) your book it's has really inspired me.I want to give that project a try. The question is what kind of album should I work with; is it possible to do it with a 6"x6", or will I miss space ?
Have a nice week.

I LOVE the photo of Chris in his PJ's playing with the train. Reminds me of my John.... You get the glimpes of them as the small boy they used to be :)
Glad your weekend was great :)

LOL, that first pic of the track building - yep, totally my hubby. He enjoys it more than our boys enjoy playing with Thomas anymore!
Also, his new addiction (I mean, helping his older son play) is RollerCoaster Tycoon ... CRAZY!!!!!!

Love todays blog and the simple things we need to be grateful for. Love it when the hubby constantly changes the train table, and now Brody will allow that to occur - it is so much fun. Although sometimes trying to get them all joined back together can be quite a feat and take quite a while.
I am sure that your book signing will be amazing - you are so creative and inspirational.

Love the Thomas layout!! My kids play with those for hours!! You have to take Simon to "A Day out with Thomas"!!! It is the BEST experience! They have them all over the country!!
Check out the info here! http://www.thomasandfriends.com/usa/parents/dowt.html
Thanks for the inspiration! Wish I lived near Portland to come for your book signing!!

Pulled out some journaling blocks today and they reminded me of you. They are actually punctuation notecards, but they aren't folded - just flat - so there is no inside. Your message goes in the journaling block. I bought them in a sweet shop in my hometown of Greenville OH, but I they are from a company called Paper Cup Designs. Thought I'd email you the link directly to these cards, but the whole site is full of wonderful little paper gems.

Bummer - the link didn't seem to work. So, go to www.papercupdesigns.com and go into the Beta site. Then go to Collections - Flat - Punctuation. It's the punctuation cards. Sorry for that.

I'm so embarrassed. It's actually www.papercupdesign.com. No "s" at the end of design. Next time I'll preview before I post.

Thank you for sharing these glimpses into your everday life. It's especially refreshing to see you share something as mundane as doing the laundry. Guess I better go get started on my own now. I just wish my laundry room were decent enough to take a picture.
