Photos = Happiness.

Working this morning and came across this:

and this:

Both from last summer. Both totally imperfect pictures. Both make me really, really happy.

Sometimes those little imperfections is what makes them meaningful and beautiful not ever picture has to be perfect. I just love all pictures in general but any picture that gives you an emotion is an amazing picture.
On a side not don't you love when they hide under the table lol too cute.

What I love most about the first picture is how clean your floor is :)

Great photos. Perfect precisely because they're imperfect - like the rest of life. Strangely enough, they make me want to camp out on the floor and get summer here right now. Thanks for sharing. :)

the 2nd one is very timeless.
it could have been in 1970 or today...
    assuming it were not freezing...:)

Keep talking Ali! I so need that reminder and what better reminders than the smiles on Simon's face in those pictures---it's so funny-----I was already cropping the second one LOL!!!! I must adopt your philosophy more wholehartedly. I am getting so hung up that I am not a professional when I shoot. Thanks for putting me back in line!

Perfect pics to me are the ones that make me happy or evoke strong emotion, not necessarily the ones that are technically perfect. I love these pics of Simon. He's such a cutie!

I think the best pictures are most often the ones that aren't perfect. They are truly the ones that show the "beauty" we want to capture and remember.
    Both gorgeous photos os Simon.

I agree with the Choir ....IT IS OK! It is a perfect picture if it captures your emotions.
the second photo is probably my favorite Simon picture. So spontaneous and oh my gosh he looks so grown up here.
the first is great too. He is always so aware of the camera isn't he. It's a real connection between the 2 of you.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. Photos=happiness in my world too. This is why I spend hours with them. I play my iPhoto slideshow any time I am not using my computer so that I can see old & new photos regularly!
    Thanks for your inspiration.

okay ALI... I know I'm a big nerd but this made me tear up a little! this is soooo true. I too get so happy to find old pics of my babies. Thank heavens for the camera and the fact that photo will forever save the little things we often forget!

I disagree. I think the photos are PERFECT. They totally capture Simon and who he is!
Personally, I am getting stressed about photo quality: there certainly are wonderful photographers out there (read Tara Whitney, Karen Russell and others), but I am not nor will I ever be a photographer of that quality. I am only going to strive for photos that I believe capture something, not perfectly, but still work.

I love both photos. I like the one of Simon under the desk in particular. It's like he's a Budda or a great wise man and this is his receiving cavern. He holds his audiences with the mere mortals under the desk. He's so beautiful and ethereal to look at at times :) Lucky lady to have such a gorgeous son!

How do they get so big so fast?
That's what I want to know.
I can barely pick my daughter up. This time next year I probably won't be able to comfortably.
Not looking forward to that day.

They're not imperfect photos at all, Ali! I love the bottom one. That warrants blowing up and hanging it on the wall!
