Spring Break 08.

Mini

Spring Break is here and the 3 of us (the e3 reference on the album above) are ready for a little travel + rest + relaxation. It won't be long before Chris is back into full campaign mode for the fall election and things will be that much more hectic. This seemed like our best chance to get away together just the three of us (with no other agenda besides hanging out).

For a little on-the-road travel documentation I put together a small mini book (4x6) this morning to take along on our adventure. It's a new one from D Reeves (loving the very cool white look - it's a pure white rather than clear) and my plan is to use brochures and found papers along the way for the pages. I also packed a small Kodak printer to try some photo printing on the road.

[ album: D Reeves; foam letter stickers: American Crafts; chipboard circle accent: Scenic Route ]

Keeping the additional supplies simple again: scissors, hole punch, rolling adhesive, glue stick, and a pen.

Supplies

I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend. We got a kick out of the comments yesterday regarding Chris' white shirt. It just happened to be the one he had on and it stayed clean the entire time. There wasn't much splashing in the dyes - a fairly quick and easy little egg coloring session. But yep, he was brave.

As a couple of you noticed and mentioned in the comments yesterday, Simon was totally into it this year (vs. no interest last year). He had a great time dipping the eggs into the dyes and placing them back into the cartons. He also loved re-hiding (and re-hiding and re-hiding) the eggs yesterday afternoon for our friends that came over to celebrate Easter with us.

Have a wonderful week!

So cute! I am also in the middle of trying to get together a travel journal. my BF and I are driving to Austin Texas (from the coast of CA!) and I am getting things together to add while we are gone. I think that the printer idea is cool, but we will be near a Costco and so I can print when we set up "camp" at his moms house :)
    Have a fun trip!

VERY COOL! One of the things I do on vacation is load our photos to snapfish each night. Then if there is a walgreens near by I'll swing by and pick up prints the next morning. (Only if it isn't a biggie to swing by) We have wall-to-wall fun pages. At the end of each day on our summer vacations, I will with the help of which ever child wants to chime in, make a 12x12 collage made up of photos, brochures, ticket stubs, hardrock cafe coasters, a napkin with a logo on it...you name it, we have used it in our collages. I love that after twenty-five years of making collages from vacations, many many years before it scrapbooking became popular. Back when I had photos made up after vacation in black and white to keep them from fading. Our vacation albums remain treasure troves of moments, places, and memories.
    Have a great vacation.

Hi - new to your blog -- find it so inspiring. I dyed eggs for the first time this year with my girls -- my 5 year old loved it, the 2 year old -- well lets just say that it was a mistake to give a 2 year old a dyed egg! On her lips, teeth, hands... it will make a great memory and she was so happy!
Have a safe trip and will be interested to see what you create.
    Thanks for the inspiration -

Another fun thing to do is hide the Easter baskets. As the kids grow older the hiding spots can get more and more challenging til they are out in the car, in the basement, or in the oven!

A very timely posting for me, Ali! My husband and I are taking a three week trip to Europe with our 18 month old daughter. I am in the midst of putting together a travel scrapbook for the road, so I appreciated knowing how you're going to do it! So far I have generic daytimer that I'm going to modify with maps, restaurants/shops I want to visit, and chipboard pages dividing the destinations. I'm really looking forward to working on this on the road!

This book is so dang cute, and I liked seeing your "supply bag" for road scrapping. GREAT idea: do it while it's fresh in one's mind! You have such a flair, wanna help me remodel my kitchen? That is my spring break project. LOL! Have a blast on your trip! Thanks for the great post! Jen in the OC
