I blogged about Autism Awareness Month today, though I didn't realize it was actually Autism Awareness Day. I linked to your blog and your page of autism links in my blog post...your blog has been a wonderful resource for me in the past, and your willingness to share your experiences is always encouraging. I'm sure it is for others as well. Thanks!

Thanks for the Austism Speaks link; it nudged me to make some phone calls I've been dreading. It's been suggested that my son might have Aspergers or some other autism spectrum disorder. I am probably in denial; but I finally made some phone calls and an appointment to get the diagnosis process going. Thank you, I love your blog and your book, and your photos and layouts. You rock!

As I was watching news coverage today on Autism Awareness, I thought about you and how you are always sharing Simon's story. I can only imagine the families that will seek out help today based on the news coverage. Thank you for being so open with your journey.

So interesting to find out it's Autism Awareness month (and day) since we are currently in the process of evaluating our 3 yr old son for Autism.

    Hi Ali,
I was aware that it was World Autisim Awareness Day. My son does not have Autism but does have Hemophilia. You have inspired me to be more open about my son's condition and to freely talk about it in my scrapbook pages. I wish you the best with your son. You are very lucky that Autism has received so much attention and hopefully research will help find the reasons why these wonderfully little children get such a difficult condition. My only wish is that some day Hemophilia will get some more attention. We are both very blessed to have such wonderful boys in our lives. Again - thanks for the continued inspiration.
    Christine

Thanks Ali for bringing autism to those that don't live it in a very simple way, as a mother of an autistic child i know that you go through a lot more than you post and i just wanted you to know that you are not alone and i am sending you a big hug from NYC

I saw Ian Rogerson on TV this morning, his wife and son were in that article I sent you late last year. There is a website you might like to look at http://www.1000hours.com.au/ which is about the kind of intervention and work needed to diagnose and manage autism.

I learned about this just last night. I think it's sad that it wasn't more publicly announced. There was no mention of it here in Ottawa Canada. I had no idea and my son has autism.
The world needs to know more about it. It should be talked about more than it is.
Thanks for sharing this info Ali!

Thought of you all day today. I know what it is like to worry about your child's health and their future if you are not around. You always worry about your children, but when they have special needs, it is alot more to deal with than people know or understand. God Bless.

Hey Ali - have you seen this? Autism Speaks put out a pdf for the first 100 days after a dx - I'm so happy they put this together, because as you know, it's a whirlwind after the dx. Please send out to anyone you know who may need to see this:

Hey, Ali, I hope you had a great trip and can't wait to eventually see photos/a completed miniBook, etc.
I was feeling a need for a big Ali-fix, feeling like I haven't had a good dose of your scrapbooking in a while. If you're up for a q&a post, I now have some questions.
    1) I noticed a smallish album called Family Baby album that I don't remember seeing before. Did you add that recently? I love it but couldn't tell what exactly it was. What is it?
    2) It doesn't seem like you've been posting layouts to your website in a while. Are you using all your current layouts for the CK column and other things you're publishing? Or are you also creating layouts we can see? No pressure, lol. I'm just wondering and thought I'd let you know that I'd love to see more of your pages.
    3) If you have been in the scrapbooking mode of your creative cycle, what have you been scrapping lately (pre-vacation)?
Anyway, these are just some things I'm curious about. If you have time to answer, great. If not, I understand. =)

we were at build a bear today. During the whole month of April you can purchase a purple heart for $1 instead of a red one and Autism Speaks gets all of the $$ -- so very cool!

Ali, you are making such an impact in Simon's future & so many others lives. My brother (he is 35) is also affected by autism and I continue to educate others in my own small, but significant way. Thanks for all that you do!

I LOVE STAMPS!!! And I LOVE the idea of an "Experiences" album. My son goes through phases of being stuck in a rut. This kind of thing might be just the ticket...also letting him choose some of the new experiences so he can "own" them!
Now, let's see some of those famous Ali layouts. I am needing a design fix, also!
