Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway

Threethings_weekdays

One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.

1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.

2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.

3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).

[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.

This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.

You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.

Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.

We love to sit around the living room as a family and have the kids give Daddy and Mommy foot rubs and do our hair. We have a lot of children, so there are always plenty of hands to go around and it seems as if the "touching" part adds a lot to the feeling of closeness.

My favorite thing to do as a family is when we relax at the end of the day on the couch, or one of the boys beds (I have two boys, 4 and 9) and recap our day. Usually one of the boys really gets talking about his day and it is so nice to hear them describe their adventures. We also do "Thankful" books and each boy (and mom) write down one thing they were really thankful for from the day.

    Hello Ali
Thanks again for the opportunity of a give away. My best family memoires are when we are all together and just laughing about silly things that are happening in our life at that moment.

My favorite thing to do together as a family is very simple - eat dinner together! It is not always possible with a husband who frequently travels but when he is home we all eat together and talk and laugh. It is when we share each other's day and learn what is going on in our lives.

What a neat book! I have a 12 year old and a 20 month old so it's hard to find something we all like to do. Our favorite family activity these days is to turn on our CD changer and play "CD roulette." We pick a random CD and track and listen to whatever pops up. Sometimes we are listening to Christmas songs, other times it's Aerosmith or Yanni. The kids love it and it's a great time for us to just be together, dancing, and laughing.

My favorite thing I did with my family growing up was playing Pictionary. Even though we divided into teams (and were quite competitive) we all had a great time. Now that I am older and living on my own, I still play the occasional board game with my family only now my sister and I bring our boyfriends/friends. It's become so addictive we have "game nights" with friends and play a new game each time!

My favorite family time is just anytime the 3 of us are together in the same room. I work a normal M-F job and dh is a police officer so that leads to wacky hours & days off, so I don't get to see him very much. Thankfully dd gets to see him a little more than I do.

With a three year old, we are finally getting the age where she really gets into family time. Having both mom and dad home is a treasure for her! Lately she has taken over a corner of the scrapbook desk and will "work" while I scrap or flip through a magazine. She is also starting to appreciate packing up our books and heading to the coffee shop for some reading and playing (They have a great toy bin). She has also devised her own Library game where mommy and daddy have to check out books from the librarian!

    Hi,
I have a 7 month old who loves to be around people. We love going on small little day trips. It's amazing to see how my son reacts to people. We also love laying in bed on Sunday mornings. We talk and read books and have breakfast as a family. My son hasn't said his first word yet but you should hear all the babytalk that comes out of his mouth. We could listen to it all day. My husband and I both work so we make it a point to spend a lot quality time with our son.

    Hey Ali--
Love the date stuff as well--really helps with putting our stories in order and in my opinion is an important part of the story itself! Thanks for sharing...
Our favorite thing to do as a family is play board games. Both our boys love to play games and we will sit around the living room floor or the kitchen table and play games together. We laugh, we tease each other, we enjoy each other's company. These times make up moments I will treasure always! Thanks for the chance to win what seems like a wonderful book!

    Thanks Ali, another great giveaway.
Our favorite thing to do as a family is play board games - it really slows the pace of life down which is so often hectic! Playing games together always involves laughter and that is what brings us together.

our most important daily family activity it a really simple one - eating dinner together at the table. Our son is only 15 months so he is still very young, but I told my husband that I wanted to start eating together now so that it is something that is a constant in our house. It gives us a time to share and be with one another w/o any phones or TV.

Family time? Turn off the TV, eat together, read together, go long walks together: anything that makes it possible for your to really LISTEN to your children, to really make them believe they ARE important to you and that they are your world. Childhood is such a precious time, every moment should be savoured.

We reconnect every Wednesday night... just the two of us (that's our whole family right now) by going out to a different restaurant each Wednesday night. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it does have to be out of our home so that we get away from the email, the fax machine, and the computer. It's a time for us to just TALK. What a blessing!

My immediate family consists of just myself and my husband. So anything we do together is wonderful. But what we really like to do is go birding.

    The book sounds so cool.
My favorite thing to do is "talk". In the car, at bedtime, sitting around with no TV or computer. Really hear about what her day at school was like, what is on her mind, silly things she says and does. I always walk away amazed at how bright, witty, sensitive and happy she is.
