Wednesday Layout.

Today's layout is a simple combination of memories + sentiment + an enlarged focal photo (10 inches tall and printed at home on my HP Photosmart D7360). Text was added directly to the photo in Photoshop. "This Is" was drawn using my Wacom tablet. Single line journaling says:

thanksgiving 2007 • oregon coast
you and me
on an adventure
cruising through the tall grass
taking photos
checking out the plants
feeling the ocean breeze
appreciating being outside
playing hide & go seek
never wanting to leave
waving to grandma in the kitchen window
watching the seagulls at Irene’s
on the lookout for ships
spending time together

I love photos like this that give me some working space to add text right onto the photo. I also like having the opportunity to tell this sort of story - one that is inspired by the memories that are conjured when I came across the photo. Telling stories does not have to be complicated nor does it always have to be complete. Stop worrying and just get to writing.

There were a few questions in the comments section yesterday that I want to answer:

1. Am I doing anything to my mail scraps to make them acid free? No. If you want to make sure the things you are adding to your projects are acid free you can use a product such as Archival Mist. I simply figure that some of the things I create will last and others will not.

2. The canvas size for yesterday's photo gathering was about 10 inches x 6.5 inches. After printing I cut the individual photos out and rearranged them on my layout.

3. Do I use a Mac or a PC? Mac.

4. What camera do I use? Canon Digital Rebel XTi.

5. There is a step-by-step for creating photo gatherings in Photoshop listed in issue four of my newsletter.

Ali, I love the way you keep bringing me back to the 'basic things' in life. To look at the everyday. I'm slowly getting it. :)
    Keep up the good work.

this one is full of emotion. reminding me to let paul take some of the pics for me. I'm a camera hog, but i want to have more of myself with my small ones -- so i need to change that.

I love the simplicity of these layouts. Writing is my first love so I am all about the stories and that is the biggest reason why I scrapbook, just to tell the story. What type of photo paper do you prefer when you print the pics out? I have had the worst luck with photo paper. Thanks for all the inspiration...

Allie, I love the layouts you've been sharing and I love your attitude toward acid-free or not. Sometimes creativity is not archival. Oh well...

Love the layout, but especially love your answer to #1. I am not fanatical about worrying about acid free and longevity either. If it lasts, great, if not, oh well. Not really sure exactly how long future generations will appreciate or want to hold onto it anyway! Anyway, happy creating and, as always, thanks for the awesome inspiration!

Love the layouts you have been sharing with us such an inspiration since I have a tendency to dwell too long on a page and second guessing myself.
I do have a question, what type of printer do you use? I have a canon printer and it works great it's just that I have to change out the ink cartridges often and is photo printer only better?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the great exmple of using the Wacom board!! Hoepfully I'll make time to borrow my boss' and play with it. My Aunt just gave me one of her sewing machines and I can tell I am on the brink of sensory/creativity overload. But not I have your great articles from last week and this week to help me just start something - anything - and go with it!
    Thanks!

LOOOOOVE the title on the horizon and the typography (title and text)! (I mean it's all great, heh-heh. Those elements just really caught my eye!)
    =)
PS: The story captured by the photo is perfect, too...really does represent you two!
