Three Things : Letter Stickers

Letterstickers

I am a classic typeface kind of person. I like clean lines in both serif (letters with the "little feet" on them) and sans serif styles (without the "feet"). I also mainly pick up black, white, red, and brown. Here's a few of the ones I keep coming back to again and again:

1. Scenic Route Parker. I also definitely like Omaha.

2. Three Bugs In A Rug Red Alphabet Stickers. This one is great for those times you want a mixed typeface set.

3. American Crafts MOMA sticker book in black and white. One of the reasons I love this set is that it comes with a LOT of stickers. Great for multiple projects.

I love using letter stickers--for me they are so easy to use.
This is off-subject, but I wanted to share my layout on the historic election with you. I used news clippings from a number of different articles--a few headlines and stats and a map, plus his acceptance speech typed up on 8.5x11 in between the two 12x12 pages.
When I was working on it, I kept moving the pieces around, not happy with it, until I took a quick glance through your Life Artist book. I didn't use any one layout as a guide, but just getting a quick look at a bunch of your layouts at once really helped to remind me of what makes a design strong and suddenly I was able to pull it together.
Thanks for the constant inspiration, Ali. I hope you like my layout. When you go to the link, just scroll halfway down the post to see the pic's...

Me too --- I am totally a letter sticker person! I got a Cricut two years ago so I could make letters/titles, and rarely use it. My favorite letters are black & white letters including Sonnets (Creative Imaginations), and anything by Scenic Route and Pink Paislee.

My favorites are the American Crafts alpha (and thickers). The MM tiny types are fun and cute. I also love the puffy alphas from MM and AC. (They remind me of the 80s.)
As for my color preference... I have no idea why, but I am such a black letter only person. I rarely venture away from that.

my favorites have always been the Scenic route ones. I've had bad luck with my thickers not sticking. My first love was the making memories rub-ons in the skinny packages. Loved those!

    Dear Ali,
I was looking through your archival posts and saw the beautiful big alphabets displayed around your house, namely E and A etc.
Where did you purchase them and is there any way I can get them online as I live in Singapore!
Thanks for your inspiring posts and you have the most adorable boy in the world. God bless. :)

Wuling - I have picked those letters up at a variety of different places. I know one store in San Francisco that carries LOTS of different letters and I bet they would work with you on shipping them overseas. You can check them out here: Timeless Treasures (http://www.timelesstreasuressf.com/).

I agree! With all the really neat stuff out there to use for emphasis (rub ons, negative space, chipboard, grungeboard, computer fonts, etc.) I still LOVE the good old sticker letters. I always stock up when they are on sale. I use them at work as well as home. I guess it's like having a nice black suit in the closet - always appropriate - not always as stylish or fun as some other choices, but ALWAYS appropriate. I sound so conservative! Heeheehee

I love sticky Alpha's too! I have two huge binders full of them...always drawn to them when looking around in my LSS....Do I need more?....YES! LOL. I especially love the Red set from 3 Bugs in a Rug...first time seeing that. Gotta go hunt for it now. Thanks!

Me too - I love sticker letters. Clean lines. The ones you showed are great. Doodlebug has a font that is clean too, but I'm going to look for the AC ones you mentioned.

alpha stickers are one of my favorite staples for scrapping. I have a *thing* for fonts. My current faves, in sticker form, are both manufactured by American Crafts. Simply Chic, "Runway" in black, the other is Monogram Mumbo Jumbos in white. Both are a great size to use with larger scale photos. I like to use the small vinyl letter stickers you can get from office supply stores too. Mine are made by Chartpak, I use the 1/4 in. and 1/2 in. sizes regularly. They are perfect for sub titles, names, card fronts etc.. they come with hundreds of letters, and a variety of sizes. I don't worry about ever running out. :~)
