Best Laid Plans & Thinking Ahead

I had hoped to have a couple of postings this past weekend and this morning catching up on my December Daily album. Unfortunately I came down with something and did little more than lay on the couch, sleep, cough, sniffle, and read. Feeling thankful that I have an interesting book
on hand and that most of my Christmas shopping is already done (and it gave Chris and Simon a chance to go out on their own).

I laughed a little as I looked back at my December Daily posts from 2007 and saw that I got behind at just about this same time last year.

There is definitely a ton of inspiration to be found in the December Daily Flickr group.

thinking ahead : ONE LITTLE WORD

As we approach the new year I have started thinking about the one little word project again. I have not decided on a word yet, but am considering a few different possibilities.

If you are interested in creating a word for yourself for 2009 here are some previous posts on the topic to check out:

Take care, Ali. I've been thinking about my word lately alot - both my word for 2008 "breathe" and a new word for 2009. Am considering both "Joy" and "replenish" - haven't settled.
Peace to you and yours, Susan.

Ali, I love ONE WORD. My 2008 word was CONNECT. I think I did an ok job of living up to my word. I did some things that were outside of the box for me in terms of connecting. I certainly could of done more, but I think the whole process made me think more effectively about living with intention. I know it is so easy to go through the days, busy, doing all that is right and good and still have that feeling of not doing enough, not accomplishing MY goals, not doing the very thing that we NEED to be doing. 2008 was a very difficult year for me. The easy thing was to hide, to disconnect. Setting out to intentionally connect helped me tremendously. One way I connected was through my new blog, which has been a huge blessing and a creative outlet.
My 2009 word is CREATE. To live to intentionally create will be a stretch for me. I have the desire...I just need to make the space, emotionally and physically (time) for my art.

Just wanted to say feel better and I'm behind on my December album, too. I'm doing a 2-up album and though I'm up to date with photos my embellishing is sadly lacking. Still, my photos are all journaled upon and deco-ed with Designer Digi stuff so it's not all bad - just petering out . . .

Hope you're feeling better soon. I hadn't given 2009 a word until I just read your posts on "one little word". But, I had already decided on what I wanted from 2009. I entend to be disciplined with myself. I want to have discipline in all areas of my life. Working, parenting, eating, exercising. For me the list can just go on and on. So that is my word. Discipline. I am so excited about it. I hope that through it I will achieve balance and be able to accomplish a long list of to-do's and I want to to-do's. This time next year I hope that I have a disciplined rythm to my life.

Hi Ali, I was inspired to choose a word for 2008. I chose BALANCE. I needed to find a balance between my family and the rest of my life. in past years I have become very involved in school committees and volunteering in many areas and have felt that I have pushed my boys aside for these activities that I was involved in. I made the January page of my calendar my balance page. I am proud to say that we have found 2008 full of BALANCE. I have stepped back from alot of external things and spent more time helping in my own childs class -interacting with 8yo son during his class time. I have seen him open up and become quite cuddly and loving this year. I feel better in myself and our family has benefited to no end. THANKYOU for the inspiration. I now need to choose a new word for 2009. Many Chrismas wishes to you and your family.

For the first time ever, I know my word! It jumped out at me a few weeks ago like it was meant to be. My word for 2009 is GIVE. I want to challenge myself to be more giving, sharing, and teach my children about giving.

I didn't do this last year, but read about others doing it. And it percolated all year in the back of my mind. Last week it came up to me in a burst....COURAGE. My word for 2009 is courage. I had thought of tranquility, patience, health....but all of those boiling down to one thing, changing myself. And it takes courage to change. Courage to not procrastinate, courage to go out on a limb, courage to exercise every day....you get the idea.
    Bring on 2009.

I've been giving the one little word a bit of thought this past few weeks as well. There are a few floating about - I think it's going to be one about the people I love and prioritising them. Fun to think about. I hope you feel better in good time for Christmas :)

i love how my "word" seems to come to me! My word for 2009 is release! I am going to release the past, release expectations from people that continue to let me down, release my extra kilos, release negativity, release!
