December Daily : Day Nine

Favoritememory

Sometimes during December Daily the things I capture don't really have much to do with holiday decorations, traditions, or events. Sometimes they are wonderful, little, everyday moments that I happen upon just because the camera was out and accessible.

Simon and Chris doing homework together - part of our evening ritual either before or after dinner. Having a conversation about what Simon had just read out loud. Making a connection between reading and life.

Behind the camera I am thinking about our role as parents. Watching life unfold. Holding hands. Thinking about the past and the future and all those little moments in between. Considering how lucky we are to have this person in our lives.

This page begins on the back of yesterday's with a photo covering the same photo location, a strip of printed twill, and a bit of hand-drawn journaling on top of the printed out strips.

December94

Journaling was hand-written on the printed December Daily Photo + Journal Overlays and backed with Santa paper. I will do something on top of that Santa paper - just not sure quite yet.

December95

Photo was printed with the digital Remember Word Art and stitched to the 7gypsies flocked pattern paper.

I just love that photo. Definitely one to enlarge and frame for here at home.

What a great photo. Love it in black and white. Was wondering if you have any tips for converting photos to B/W mine usually end up looking more grey and washed out so I end up using the colour version. The depth of the black and white is very striking in yours.

WOW, that picture put tears in my eyes. Incredible, what a moment. I love your use of black and white photos in the album and the mix of black and white with color pages or embellishments is really nice.

Ali, how lucky you were able to capture that beautiful moment on film!
I was wondering if you have any tips for painting or stamping on transparencies? I have not tried this, but I am going to guess that something like a staz-on ink would work? Any other suggestions for paints, etc.?
    Thank you,
    Christene

Lovely black and white photo. Do you just 'desaturate'? Do you change the contrast or brightness? As you can tell, I'm still learning, but 2009 is my year to master Photoshop!

Expat - this was shot in really low-light (trying to use the AV setting with the ISO at 1600 - that causes the graininess). Other than that I just changed it to black + white and used curves to adjust the lightness.
