December Daily : Day One
Tags:So much of this project is about working with what you have set up for yourself (especially if you put the foundation pages together in advance). Each time I do this project I reminded how much I like setting it up ahead. I like having some parameters to work in - a bit of direction that takes some of that initial guess-work and decision making out of the way.
Remember: this process does not have to be complicated. I said that to
myself a bunch as I felt like I needed to add more. Documenting life in
December...that's what I am doing. Nice and simple. Made especially
nice by listening to holiday music while working. I know from experience that some days will be more creatively complicated than others.
HOW TO : Print out photos 6 inches x 9 inches and trim around the acrylic deco page using a craft knife (love this one from Fiskars especially for going around rounded corners). Add ribbon and strip sticker directly to the photo. Print out Holiday title & journal photo overlay, cut to size, adhere to back of acrylic, and journal. White pen defining the edge is the Sharpie poster paint pen (not certain it is available anymore). Black journaling pen is a Precision Pen in .03 from American Crafts.
It's hard to see in the photos here but there is a piece of acrylic
that is holding the journaling blocks on the front and back (it's what
gives the bracket shape that you can see on the photo page). The
journaling blocks are adhered to the front side and the back side of
the acrylic to hide the adhesive.
As of right now there is nothing on the back of the photo page. I plan to use that space for something on the 2nd. Sometimes I do the back for the same day depending on how much space I need, how many photos I have, etc.
Here's a look at the before image of the album for December 1:

I have been checking your blog all day because I couldn't wait to see the first page of your december book. I love it! I am so excited to go on this journey again - thank you for the inspiration. On November 30 I sat down and reread my book from 2007 and fell in love with it all over again! Can't wait to see what you do over the next few weeks. Happy holidays!

Decided yesterday that I'll do this project again this year. So I'm just about to crack open a new Christmas CD (last years favourite got scratched by my little boy), sort through the Christmas papers and embellishments and get started. Seasons Greetings to you Ali and your family. Jo in England.

I love how you used the journaling blocks on the acrylic and had 2 sides to work with. I think I may "borrow" that one! Love the stamps too! I was so tempted to buy them on Friday, but I felt like I should wait to see if Santa brings them. :)

I just finished doing the pre-work on my book(I am doing it through the end of the year). I showed a friend and I am making her one as well. I have enough product left to do another & it is a beautiful gift to give. I am having my pictures printed today and I am excited to do this year's! Thank's a bunch Ali! It is super Ku-a-el!

Just so wonderful -- as usual! We went to mail Christmas Cards yesterday and I got the cutest pic of my little one putting the cards in the mail slot -- going to Walgreens on my way to the library to pick up my photo so I can do the page today. Wonder what today will bring???

You look gorgeous, Ali. Love that baby bump! I was going to put together a December Album but sickness and a few sleepless nights put that on the back burner. So, I'm using your Daily December QP's to do it instead. I can digi scrap in the middle of the night while breastfeeding (it only takes one hand, right?) and then print it off and embellish later. That's simplifying for my life right now. :)

Love seeing your baby-belly, Ali.
I have a question...In the before photo, it looks like there is a piece of chipboard behind the journaling blog overlay and the page with the two photos. In the after page I don't see that. Did you take it out?

Great to see the first page. I had every intention of doing this, but time got away. So I'm doing the same thing on my blog and will transfer it after the holidays when I have a bit more time. Thanks for the daily inspiration.
