December Daily : Day Ten

December101

Playing a little bit of catch up today. Here's December 10.

Part One : Trader Joe's has some fun designs on their paper bags right now. So if
you forget your cloth bags (that would be me yesterday) these bags are
just right for cutting up and adding to your December Daily.

Part Two: photos + words.

The trickiest part of this one was cutting around the rounded edges of the Art Warehouse Mistletoe Dot Die Cut Paper. I used Fiskars Finger Tip Craft Knife to go around the corners. I have found that tool to be really useful in terms of giving me more control when working with a variety of different edges.

The photos were gathered together in Photoshop and printed as one piece and adhered to the back of the scalloped paper.

For the journaling I created a simple text block the same size as the photo gathering and printed on cardstock.

Journaling for December 10:

My Mom and Dad stopped by today on their way to Federal Way to drop off a couple things including some fresh caught crab and a little present for you. Your grandma is so very good at little presents.

Todays present for came in a little Winter Wishes snowman box - in anticipation of snow we are supposed to be receiving this weekend. Inside the box was a wonderful little note, some candy from Sees, and a snowman ornament for your collection.

When you came home from school you exclaimed, Whats this? You had a big smile on your face as you opened the box, had me read the note to you, and discovered the ornament. For the rest of the afternoon you played Santa with the box - coming down the chimney, placing the box under the tree, opening the package with delight, reading the note you had memorized, and just overall being really happy.

I think part of what you loved is that there was a package you could actually open! You were a bit disappointed that you missed grandma and grandpas short visit...but you seemed to get over that pretty quick as you role-played Santa.

Here's the before:

And around here...we are hoping for snow this weekend. A big cold front is supposedly moving in with all the right mixture of stuff to create snow here on the valley floor.

Beautiful pages. Good for you for keeping your art area so clear. Mine is an absolute mess! Bits of paper, pictures, and other gift projects, oh my goodness. Somehow it will all get done. Thank you for added inspiration.

Love the Trader Joe's bag. I just saw on another blog (which of course I can't remember now- maybe DesignSponge) tags made out of the paper.
    How fun for Simon!

I so love this one!! I think it might be my favorite, so simple, the story is wonderful, and I love how you numbered the pictures.
I just came back from lunch, I'm in NJ, and as I walked out of my house I grabbed my mail and my CK was there. I jumped to your article when I got to the parking lot of my office and I tried to quickly at least look at the pictures before I went back to work. I LOVE the layout of you with the baseball card pockets. Just very cool! I'm so looking forward to going home now to read the article. :)

so inspired by your great pages, I've been doing good with my album, keeping up with photos daily... just need to buy a new card reader so I can get them OFF my camera! LOL
Very jealous of your snow.. NC isn't known for much, but it's been years since we've had enough to even play in. This past week we had temps in the 70's with thundrstorms! Crazy! I'm hoping the old wives tale about thunderstorms in winter will produce snow within 10 days comes true! I'm itching for a REAL winter! ;)

What a great idea to use the Trader Joe's bag. I never even see the paper bags because we have the cloth ones. I'm going to have to deliberately "forget" the cloth bags and get me some paper ones if they have neat stuff on them. Grin.

Don't you love those trader joe bags? I used one for the cover of my december daily!
Jealous of your snow - we don't have any in NY yet, AND we are spending Christmas in Florida, so... We'll just be all the more thankful when we do get it.

    Hi Ali,
Just wanted to tell you I saved a bag from Pottery Barn from last season because I could not bear to throw it away - I loved it so much. It's perfect for the Christmas season because it's green (trees and leaves are green and the cottage and birds are a cranberry red). Well anyway, I'm using it as a back cover for my December Daily and as a page - so happy with the design!
Thank you for the inspiration. I always look forward to your daily blogging and its the first thing I check before my email. By the way, you are spoiling us with the weekend blogging. We are all going to go through withdrawal in January. Have a snowy weekend.

Great pages. I see you cover the back of Art warehouse green dot diecut on the back. What did you do with the front? I wasn't sure how to use this paper and was curious to see what you did with. Jess

Jessica - the front just has the number 10 on it :) - I left it that way.

Too bad those of us in the northeast u.s. can't share the abundance of snow we have with all of you... it's been snowing here since mid-November and still going strong!

The Artic air just hit the coast and is coming your way. It will probably hit me tomorrow (I live near Pendleton, OR). Enjoy the snow! Just think, you'll be a little more "insulated" during this storm because of the Little Miss growing inside you :)
Have fun w/the opportunity to take snow pictures.

We just moved from the Tacoma area to Germany over the summer and we have a ton of snow! I know it is a treat when your area gets snow. My 21 month old daughter can not get enough of it. She has started to gather all of her snow gear and bring it to me when she wants to go out and play. This is the only time she will wear her mittens!
