December Daily : Days 23, 24, and 25

Decemberdaily_complete

So happy to be finishing this up. It's a project that I definitely look forward to but man it is tough to finish up during those last few days leading up to Christmas.

In looking through the entire album for this year, one of the things I really love is that it is simple and the emphasis is really on the photos and the words. The more time goes by the more I really find that to be what I want to see most. Sometimes it is so easy to get swept up in all the extras (because there are so many cool things to use) but what I really care about are the pictures and the story.

I know that I talk about the simplicity of words and photos often, partly it is a reminder to myself and partly because I just get so excited about it.

I love this photo of Chris, his Dad, and Simon - probably my favorite of the season. Patterned paper is Love, Elsie from 2007. Foam stickers from American Crafts.

Thank you Ali for introducing me to this type of Art Journal. I have so enjoyed the "rush" of it all. I will miss doing it.
So I may have to do some other mini type of thing this year. Even if it is just to record what art and knitting I do.
Now to wind handspun for socks.

Merry Christmas (we're still in the Season) and Happy New Year, Ali! I've enjoyed reading your column in CK for years, but this year I've spent more time here on your blog and you've really changed the way I feel about scrapbooking. You've shown me how to let go of perfection, have fun telling my story, and to play with technique. Thank you for the gifts you share with all of us. Again, Happy New Year! -Heather

I just finished that book too...so depressing, but in a good way? Wally Lamb always makes his point, but not in a pretty way, lots to think about.. If you haven't read I Know This Much Is True, put it on your list. It is one of the best books I've ever read. I think a bit better than the latest one...I did get a bit bored with the Quirk history stuff...
Hope you have a good new year:)

Your family Christmas looks amazing and the fact that Simon slept though a sheet change is amazing! Wow! I also love your Christmas album and am already collecting things so that I can do that this coming year!
I will finish my 'Joy' journal (my 2008 word) today! I can't believe the year has flown by so quickly but I have a post from each day of the year and many pictures, news articles and other 'momentos' included in this journal.
Not sure if I'm going to have a word for 2009. Am planning to do a photo a day album and will probably include some words in that.
Happy, healthy 2009 to you and your expanding family!
    Sue

I did this this year and am so happy i did... i posted a few pages online, but mostly i didnt, i gave myself freedom just to do, and if i made a mistake in my journaling i simply pasted something over it.... my 11 yo cut the pages for me and no one page looked like another, but now there is this record... i added recipes i discovered and tried and true ones... i added a list of songs that made it christmas.... every day had a photo, i am so in love with this little book. thanks
