I must tell you that I was so moved as I read through all the comments from the last few days regarding your words and the reasons for choosing them. They are so very powerful.

Imagine scrapping a page for each of those words and what it means to you. What a story it would tell and what insight we'd achieve.

Thanks for doing this Ali, as it's awesome to see the words all in one place. Very moving to read.
Peace to you and the Edwards family and may 2009 bring you much nurturing and joy, especially with the impending arrival of your baby girl. :)
P.S. Can't wait to hear what *A* name she will have!

Out of all these words, a couple stood out for me, possibly because they are words whose connotations are old-fashioned, but so appropriate today. They are:
    no new, make do
    valor
I'm certainly going to add a reminder for no new, make do for my crafting this year!
    Cheers!
p.s. the word shine is listed twice.

I posted that mine was VISION...I don't see it there.
Creating visions, following my visions, being flexible with my visions (especially when they don't come together as I had hoped), keeping my visions in perspective....
    Thanks!

Loved reading thru the list of words. I liked "no new-make do"--I think I should do that too. The lady that chose "ten" really got me to thinking--I'd have to say right now I'm at a 7--so I've got some work to do this year.
my chosen word is pause and so far so good--I've taken a couple minutes each day to pause----to reflect, think, and move on.
Looking forward to a great year!

You missed me. my word is SELF .
To preface my choice i want to say i have been a single parent for 23 years and have recently become an empty nester. While coming to grips with this i realized i'd lost myself while being mom, dad, granny, provider, friend, dance leader, driver ,chaperone etc. etc. etc.the last couple of months i've been thinking of redefining ME. so for 2009 my word is SELF.who am i? what do i like? what would i like to do? where would i like to go? you get the idea. now i have to go call my daughter.this is not easy. thanks,ms.cheryl

    Hi Ali!
I finally came up with my word... PLAY.
I want to let loose and 'play' more - in all areas of my life - in my studio, in the kitchen, with my kids, with fashion, with interior design, with life - it's time to play and grow!
    Thanks so much,
    A.

That is one heck of a list. I am already seeing the "Flow" moving through my life since I picked my word. When you are mindful of it, you can not help but become one with it.

I didn't post in time but I see my word is there - determination. Nice to know I'm not alone in thinking this word is perfect for 2009 :0)
For me it's about having the determination to take control and have will power over the things in my life that lately feel out of control. And I am hoping that by focusing on my word, I will keep myself on track!

    Hi Ali,
I don't see my word on your list...no worries! After I posted it the other day, I could not stop thinking about it. It did not say all that I wanted it to say. The word was REMAIN, but since it was not sitting right with me (and the fact that it was not on your list was confirmation to me!) I am changing my word to STILL. The Bible verse that says, "Be STILL and know that I am God" has been playing gently in my head for a few days. This year I am going to "be STILL" to hear God's voice, to allow frustration to melt away, to carry on with those things that are working well in my life and to have peace and rest.

    Less.
Less stuff, less is more, less of everything. We have too much "stuff". Time to pare down to less.

Just made my decision on my word for this year and it is search. Time I did some serious searching for many different things. Good luck to all of those who chose a word and may it bring them happiness and insight.

One more comment- we have a get together every year on New Year's Day with our neighbors. We are a very tight group- like family. I began the discussion of my word (less), and challenged everyone to so the same. Some of the best were from the teenage girls in the group- strong, determination, health, happy.
We plan to remind each other of our chosen words often and check our progress. We will revisit our words at next year's party and pick new ones. Thank you for being an inspiration for a neighborhood in Westerville, Ohio!

    Hi Ali,
I think this post got lost between the other great words; would you mind adding it? Thanks!
My word for 2009 is PRESENT ("Existing right now, being at this time". But also:"
Being at hand, within reach or call, within certain contemplated limits; -- opposed to absent".). I want to learn to live more in the moment instead of planning ahead all of the time. I hope this will give me a feeling of peace. Also I want to become present in the life of my family and friends; I've been pretty isolated in 2008 and have been cocooning; and that was ok for 2008. In 2009 I want to be more active and social towards the people I care about
Ali, thank you so much for enabling me to live more consciously; I love it!!

I take a peek in your life every once in a while for inspiration which you have an abundance of - thank you. My word for the year is:
    Finish
My goal is to finish what I start.
    Happy New Year.
