just read through the list. great words! neither of mine are there, so here they are.
two because they have different and similar meanings. "stay" and "remain". stay alert, stay in the Word, stay on course. remain faithful, remain sharp, remain in God's love, remain calm.

    Hi Ali,
My word is NATURE. I want to be close to it this year in everything I do: outdoor activities, food choices, my relationships with other people, my photography, etc...
NATURE has a calming effect on me. I want to honor this feeling in 2009.
Thank you for giving us the space to write about this.

hi, ali...this is not exactly related to the words...this might be a total pain, but i was wondering if you recall a quote you had in your sidebar a couple of months ago about appreciating a normal day? i searched in your quote category and couldn't find it. it was about coming to a point where you would just be praying for another normal/regular day. if it sounds familiar, would you email it to me at your convenience? THANK YOU!

My word is achieve. I struggled with accepting this as my word, as I tend to be a high achiever, and that can sometimes be a problem for me. However, in reality, that is who I am. I love to set goals and achieve them. I have put some goals on the back burner for the past year or so, so I want to embrace this word, and achieve my dreams and goals for 2009! Thanks Ali...

Ali.... My word is dedicated! I'm dedicated to my creativity, my family, my work, and MYSELF. :)
Thank you, My word last year really worked for me. Honestly. I thought about it all year long, last year it was "It's ok" and by the end of the year, I learned to let perfectionism go. It's ok, if life is not perfect.

My word is warmth. In the Jan. issue of "O" magazine columnist Martha Beck talks about the game "You're Getting Warmer/Colder" and how she uses the game to inspire her clients to move towards things in their lives that make them feel warmer. My word has already shaped my holiday break with my family into something more wonderful than I expected because I was consciously making choices that made me feel good.
Bonne Année!(Happy New Year) to you and your growing family!

    WAIT . . . . . . .
Wait is my word to live by right now.
    Wait . . . and breathe,
    wait . . . and be calm.
wait . . . for others to be ready.
wait . . . this too will pass.
I am learning that I need to have wait time to listen, to breathe, to think, and to be present.

My word is there - balance. Work, family, play. I hadn't talked to my sister in a while - no reason - just happened. She lives in Minnesota and I live in California so I called her yesterday and we had a wonderful chat. I told her about my word and that was why I was calling her. Balance. She loved it. And so do I. Thanks, Ali. You are a blessing.

My word for 2009, after much thinking, is "Healthy". I want to live healthier. By this I mean I want to be healthier physically (eating better, exercising, etc), emotionally (be happier and have a more optimistic outlook on life) and creatively (have a much healthier, energetic, outgoing & upbeat attitude towards my "art").

I found your 2007 entry and chose my word for 2009. I decided then to find your recent entries about this year's word. I was pleasantly surprised to see that we have chosen the same word for 2009: nurture. I'm very excited about this word, this year and can't wait to see where it takes me.

I have decided that this year my word will be : UNPLUG
I have been thinking a lot lately about how TV, computers, Wii, iPod, cellphone, etc, ect. take up so much of my life. This year I want to be more committed to unplugging these things and tuning into God, my husband and children. Especially as I embark on a new path in life which is homeschooling. I think we will start with getting rid of cable...

Hate to bug you Ali, but my word isn't there either. It is DEFINE. I am trying to define who I am, as a wife, friend, daughter, and hopefully someday soon, a mom. I'm trying to learn to set limits, and not over-extend myself, and also realize that the people who are most important in my life will understand when I have to say "no". DEFINE, yep, that's mine!! :) Thanks, Ali! You always inspire me!
