If you don't see your word in the above list just leave a comment and I will add it. Peace to each and every one of you in 2009.
After great thought and conversation, my word for the year is "pumped"!!!

by my count there are 331 words on that list! A month shy of having one word for each day!

Thank you for listing these, Ali. I found my word for 2009: Intentional.
Love it!

Reduce. Reduce what I consume on many levels. Reduce the amount of worry, reduce the noise and distraction. Reduce the depression, the busy-ness, the silly stuff that keeps me from being the most present mom, in the best mental and physical health I can be going forward, and keeps me from really connecting with my husband.
Thanks Ali, this site, all your books, and all your work inspires me to be awake!

WOW. Seeing all the words in a list like that is powerful. What a force we will be in 2009. Thank you for inspiring us.

this is great! even though i've chosen my own word it is very powerful to see the words that are posted! this is my 3rd year doing this with you! i love it. this year i had several words running thru my mind and i kept thinking as each one wasn't really the "right" word. so as i sat thinking one day i looked over at a bag that i had just gotten from my LSS. ya know the kind with all the vintage advertisements? well the word that jumped out at me was "NOTICE" i know it sounds odd, but i had to go with it as my mind and heart wouldn't let me move on with out it. i'm so excited to start a new year with a new word and look forward to all the things i know i will noitce! thanks so much for your inspiration!

My word for 2009 is maturity.
My prayer is to become more mature in my walk with Christ.

I didn't have time to post my word that day...it is Tolerance. I need to practise tolerance more and I think it is something sorely needed in this world of ours.
Love the idea of a word a week! What a great list.

My word...all the way down in Australia...is FOCUS! After a big battle with cancer my word last year, whilst I was going through treatment was BALANCE and it helped me so much.
Now, I am going to FOCUS on those things that help me to grow as a person, the things that are 'good' in life, the things I can do to help others.
I love your word a year idea.....it sure helps me to FOCUS!!

I absolutely could not pick one word and kept going back to these two, so I'm giving myself permission to use them both. :) They are...
FOCUSED & FRUITFUL
I felt like God was speaking these words to me as I contemplated what word to choose. I don't want to just be busy...I want to be FRUITFUL. I want to look back over this year and see where I was fruitful; spiritually, emotionally, physically. But I also need to really stay FOCUSED this year on homeschooling, my work, my child, my art, my husband, my purpose, my health and more.
So you can leave me off the list because I was indecisive but I felt like sharing that with you and saying thanks for inspiring me to "think" about life in a deeper way and use my art to remind myself of my goals.

ha! I just realized the person above me also chose FOCUS. I didn't read that until after I posted. Pretty cool.

FUN is mine....."Feeling Undeniably New" is what the new year is all about! I'm sad it didn't make the list, lol!

I think my word for 2009 is going to be DECIDE - as in I will decide to take the steps needed to reach my goals, instead of just saying I have these goals and never doing anything about it. Everything we do in life takes a decision, even if it is to decide to do nothing! So this year I DECIDE to do SOMETHING!

Hi Ali, your word 'nurture' means a lot and I am so curious what this will bring in your creative process.
Although I am not so much in that 'word for a year' kinda thing, it struck me how much lately I have something with CLEAR... I want a lot of things cleared out: not only in my closets and house, not only in the expectations people have of my job, but also personally. I think, after 32 years, this year seems to be about ME. I have always tried to make other people happy and satisfied, totally forgetting myself. 2008 was a year I got 'punished' for this way of living. As everything is an inner disaster right now, my urge and need to have a lot of things clear has never been bigger: I want to know who I am, how I can fit and accept my being/feeling/thinking/acting in this world, how I can feel less hostility, how my way of looking at the world and people was not clear, how I can make my perception clearer and maybe more realistic, how I can fit some self-positivity in my negative, selfneglecting me...
My word is CLEAR and I started right away with a clear album.

What a wonderful list! It sets the new year right.
I think my word for this year is
SUPPORT.
I look after my elderly dad and try to be a support for him as much as I can. My friends support me in my efforts and aspirations and I am very grateful (another good word).

Wow, Ali.. these words are so powerful, and I believe would also cumulatively make a great scrapbook paper or background stamp!
Great read!

Wow! This is some list! Makes me want to scrap all of them (or try anyway). I'm adding a word of my own to the list after a bit of thought - INVEST. I don't mean this is a monetary way but in more of a personal self-improvement sort of way. I really need to invest more in my health, my spiritual wellness, my family time, my scrap time, etc. You get the picture. Here's to 2009! Thanks for being such an uplifting influence with your blog. Love visiting. Good luck in the coming weeks with baby #2.

My word for 2009 is EMPOWER. This year has already begun an amazing journey for me in just a few days. As I grow deeper in love with Jesus Christ, He has given me things to accomplish this year. He has empowered me with this strange new boldness to rise to the task. Here is to me being EMPOWERed to live a great 2009.

I just finished writing down each word in the list into a quotes journal I keep. As I wrote each word (I think our minds retain a word better if we hand-write it rather than type or just read)I thought of a personal challenge for myself. I think it would be a learning lesson for me to look up each and every word for its definition and really focus on ways each word applies to me. It may not mean the same to the person who chose the word but what a thought-provoking experiment.

Hey Ali,
Is the frame you used for the bird print one of those floating frames (glass on both sides w/o a mat)? If so, and you know where you picked it up, could you me/us know?
Thanks much! Love the red, orange and yellow in "A's" room!
