Threethingsjan14

This week we are taking a peek at a couple Valentine/Love related products. Look for another round of three next week - there are just too many cool things out there for creating projects that celebrate those you love.

• Thinking a little tiny bit about Valentine projects (must be all the pink). Planning to use my new "Loving Stamps" from Technique Tuesday on something Valentine related. You can also pick up a similar digital version called "Loving Life Word Art." You can download the new Technique Tuesday 2009 Winter Supplement (pdf)
to see the entire line of stamps (or go here).

• Speaking of Valentine's, one of my favorite product lines from CHA last summer
(the big Craft & Hobby show) was from Little Yellow Bicycle called "Love Letters." I love the cardstock stickers (shown above),

• This wonderful print that is going to hang somewhere in my house (maybe in the baby's room or a bathroom) from isophotography (found via poppytalk handmade). It would make a great gift for a loved one.

• And one more lovey thing I couldn't resist this week: little love notes tickets from Making Memories.

I absolutely love Valentine's Day. I start off the day by posting a little "love" note on each of my kidlet's doors. It basically tells them what I love about each one of them and how proud I am to be their mom. My husband gets a little bit more of an intimate letter. Once the kids get home from school they get to do a scavenger hunt to find their box of Valentine's day candies and a sweet little card. They just love this tradition. My favorite part is reading and seeing their adorable hand-made with love cards for me and dad. We finish off the night with a special family dinner, sweet dessert, and bedtime story. Funny thing is; my oldest is 16 and she still wants to take part in this. We just love valentine's day. Can you tell?

I usually make something crafty with my hands and give it to the husband but we never go out - too much traffic. We celebrate better two days after - on my birthday!!!

Every year I give my boys a box of chocolates. Although they are now 25 & 23 they love getting that little heart-shaped box with little chocolates inside. And, they get flustered when they don't receive one (did that by mistake one year and have NEVER been able to live it down).

We start our Valentine's day with heart shape muffins...and end it with a heart shaped red velvet cake. This year my two children are old enough to make some simple Valentine's, so we're doing that as well.

Valentine's Day has always been special in my family. We celebrate it in honor of all of our family. This year I'm in charge of it, so I get to decorate the house and make a luncheon and of course, the cake. :) All my family with come over with little Valentine's cards for each member of the family telling them why each person is special and why we love one another. It's really a more personalized version of christmas. And this year, all the little one's are even involved. Mine are drawing pictures to show why they love each member of the family. Oh, and I just got married this year, so my new hubby gets to be involved too!! LOL This should be a wonderful year!!

We wake up to cards at our spot at the table (mine and our two girls') from my husband. I usually have a few surprised during the day for the girls but we love to come downstairs and see those cards waiting for us the most!

Oh geez, we dont really celebrate the day very much. Though there is a slight chance that my baby due on the 9th could be late and I could have a v-day baby and then I would from then on being celebrating the day, but with a birthday instead!

My husband and I usually eat dinner off of our wedding china on Valentine's day. Wether it's meatloaf or take out we try and make the evening special, since it seems the china only comes out for holidays, this is a time we take to remember our wonderful day together.

i love valentine's day - but sadly, we don't really do anything special. i love giving something sweet to my son and picking out a cute card that has one of his favorite characters on it - he loves those!! but the hubs doesn't really 'get into the spirit' - sadly!!

I've never really celebrated Valentine's Day since I've been out of elementary school. It's not a holiday I get excited about.

I have different plans from this year than any other. My husband and I have only been on one date since our 3 1/2 year old was born. I am going to find a babysitter and plan a romantic evening for the two of us!

I usually make something for my hubby and the kids. Our biggest tradition though is for me and hubby. We got engaged in February, but not on Valentine's Day. We have 3 kids under 4, so we don't often get a babysitter and go out except this one day. We celebrate our engagement by getting a babysitter and enjoying an evening together just the two of us.

My valentine for the past 12 yrs has been my son. Each year I make a wonderful soup where I have cut each of vegtables with different size mini heart shapes. I even make some crusty bread in the shape of a heart. He loves it, as do I. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful goodies and yourself!!

Once I had my first child, my mother gave me the heart-shaped cake pans that she had used since I was a child. Every Valentine's Day she made a two layer cake using these pans, with pink icing, and pink-colored coconut on the frosting, along with the required heart-shaped candies. Now, I make this cake every year for my family.

We don't have any specific traditions, yet. But my little boy isn't a baby anymore so I'm loving the ideas I'm seeing from other people so we can start our own. Typically, my hubby and I just exchange cards and a small token gift...he knows how much I love chocolate so I usually get that. Sometimes we've gone out for dinner but I just love making dinner together and having a quiet evening talking and sharing. It's a nice change from the regular routine.
