I’ve decided to do a mini version of my week in the life project this weekend and you are invited you to play along. All that’s needed is your camera and a willingness to document your life for two whole days (much easier to swallow than the seven required in the week version).
The end result of this project (whether you create layouts, a minibook, or record it on your blog) will be a glimpse of your life at this particular point in time. I am going to wait until I see how many photos I take before deciding on a format.
Anyone can do this project. Consider inviting your spouse, child, parent, or friend to participate with you.
Feel free to start on Friday night if that’s the beginning of your weekend. I’ll be starting on Saturday morning and continuing through Sunday evening.
As usual take more photos than you think you will need. Capture, capture, capture.
Here’s some things to consider capturing:
- weekend morning rituals
- the time on your clock when you wake up
- your place of worship
- Sunday evening routine
- capture doing nothing if you are lucky enough to get that chance
- the places you go (sporting events, nurseries, out to breakfast, drinks with friends)
- in general, what makes your weekend special or different from your life during the week
Don’t forget to charge your camera batteries and to keep your camera with you as you go about your weekend.
To get your weekend started, here’s a freebie download of a couple words for you to use on upcoming projects. Zipped file includes 3 .png hand drawn word images. Click below to download.

Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like a great way to remember those busy weekends. Thanks for the freebies too
So far my weekend is really up in the air…start on a cruise or stay home. Thanks for the great freebie and I may start something just to relieve the tension of wondering.
Awesome idea, Ali! I have to debate if I can “take this on” this weekend or not, but I totally would love to. Your Week In the Life project was my all-time favorite, and I love the final album from that—every day I cherish it more as things change and I have that record of “how it was,” at least that week!
Thank you soooooo much for the freebies! I absolutely LOVE your hand-drawn words, they are my favs!
(And by the way, I am still anxious to see what else is happening with Simon’s school “stuff”—I made piles right after your post inspired me, and well, those piles are still sitting . . . desperately needing more inspiration, haha!) Have a great weekend! =)
Looking forward to playing along and it’s really good to see your ‘weekend inspiration’ back
thanks ali…excited to play along…have you have a great weekend of capturing too!!

One more thing is I have your Days and Months HD words and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that these ones are slightly different!! That is so awesome—love how that “t” is crossed! Thanks again. =)
What an awesome idea, Thanks for the freebie!
I’m in! My blog is in dire need of some attention, so I think that’s where this project will end up. Maybe a scrappy project too. Thanks for the freebie!
. . . AND I also like how the pen is thicker! I know, I know, I pay a lot of attention to detail, haha. I think this is my favorite “width” for the pen on HD words. Nicely done. =)
WoW! i love your freebies, thanks, i love your blog, too!

fun idea! and thanks for the free word art!
I’m not going to play along this time, but I’ve been wanting to do this sort of thing since I first heard you mention it and WILL eventually! But I love that you included capturing it on a blog as one of the options – not just in scrapbook pages. I’ve had a stamping blog for a couple years now, and this year started a family blog. This week I’ve been capturing each day of a vacation we went on last week, day by day, on the blog, both so our family & friends in different states can see what we did, and also so I’ll have it as a reference, once I finally do get around to scrapbooking it. I love that my blog helps me capture some details along with the corresponding photos, so when I’m ready to create with paper it will take a little less work!
I’ll be playing along – and maybe I’ll get my blog current again
Thanks so much for the Freebie!
Whoa, I was surprised to see that photo when I came to your blog today. I have a very similar one on the top banner of my blog. How funny!
Yay! A weekend creative! I heart them! It’s been a while since I’ve done this and a couple of days is so less intimidating than a week. I’m in!
