A Week In The Life Update

Week

One week. Seven days. Capturing daily life right now

I started doing a big project called A Week In The Life back in 2004.

Since then I have done it three more times and those four albums are some of my favorites of my whole collection (skipped 2005 for some reason). Three of them are 12x12, created for my class at Creating Keepsakes University, and the fourth (2008) is 8.5x11. A portion of the project was also featured in my book Life Artist.

2008 was done right around this time last year and many of your played along. I have heard from a few of you that you are doing it again and enjoying the process of having it be the same time each year. I love that!

It's not likely that I will document a week before the end of the year as my class goes through the end of December. Part of my Big Picture class will address some of the same things towards the end of class - but it won't be a whole week.

I hope to do another week in either January or February.

If you are interested in embarking on this project right now I put together a page that documents my process from last year with links to specific posts, products, etc.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Loved this project last year, currently I think Yesterday & Today - and finishing Cathy Z's - All about me - xmas book is almost ready. I may wait until January/February to do one - we will have a service dog for our little guy in January - so February might be a great time to do this again. We are so excited.

So exciting to see this entry. I took your class here in atlanta a few years ago and decided to pull it all together this summer and create another week in our lives. I have to admit I think I made it more complicated that I needed to but I just love creating those little canvases. Thanks for all of your inspiration, Kim D

    Ali,
Although this looks awesome, I am currently thinking about the Christmas book. Do you have plans to post anything soon to help inspire us with the prepping and pulling together of supplies?

I have always wanted to do this, Ali, but always finding myself missing pictures for a day or two. I'm going to try and commit to taking pictures this week. I've already started this morning. Wish me luck!

Ali, you are a mind reader! I'm starting the project next week. The Album and the inserts are already waiting and so is my camera. I think that maybe I will start today or even yesterday because I took such great pictures of my kids. I'd like to have them included. Who cares if the week starts with thursday?
Thanks for putting the page together!

Thank you so much Ali for addressing this!! I'm still undecided whether I'm going to do it now or wait for you. Might be nice to get a different time of year documented.

I did this last year on this exact week, so I've been thinking about it a lot! I looked at my album a few days ago and enjoyed it so much. So many things are the same and so many are different. I'm so glad I did it. Thanks again.

I loved doing it last year, but I want to document a different week this time as we do different things at different times of the year. So I am thinking January/February would be good. REally like the Yesterday/Today class.

Hi Ali! Thanks so much for the links to last years. I want to do this again this year and this is just the inspiration I needed. I used the insides of envelopes we received in the mail for my patterned paper. Have a great day. Jane

Ali, I appreciate all that you share with your readers each day. Your posts are inspiring to me. I am putting together my countdown to Christmas journal right now. Now after reading today's post I think I too want to complete "a week in the life". My son is a senior in high school this year and I know that next year will so different for our family. He loves taking photographs, so I think this may be a project we can do together. Thanks again for you inspiration. Blessings to your incredible family!!!

This was the exact same week I did this last year and I can't believe I forgot to do it again this year! There have been changes and it would have been nice to document the same week. Oh, well. I guess I can pick another week or concentrate on preparing for the December Daily, which I didn't do last year but I WILL DO this year (unless I forget)!

Thanks Ali--I love this last year, and would love to join you at the beginning of 2010 (loving your BPS right now)...I like the idea of doing this at different times of the year to capture various seasons and different things going on. =)

Hi Ali and friends! I was so inspired by this project so this year I am doing a week - every week. I try to just snap away and catch the moments throughout the week - every week. I then collect highlights in a psd.file, "premade" with grids, and print every once in a while. I collect them all in one specially made album. Love this process and thanks for the inspiration to document everyday life Ali.

I love the black background pages of the album you used last year. What is the brand? I like the way it makes the photos "pop"

I'm game! In all the years I've followed you, I've always said that nothing interesting happens to me during the span of a week. But maybe this year is different.

I completely missed a day too this time and I think I'm going to make a page of things I missed taking pictures of. I've also "cheated" a little and taken pictures of people and things from that day later and stuck them in.
