December Daily 2009 : Day Three

03_DD_2
Last year on Day Seven I used the envelope to write a note to Simon. It's definitely a tradition I want to continue from year to year.

Of course now I get to write two notes.

To Anna I wrote about it being her first Christmas and how excited we are to share our family traditions with her. To Simon I wrote about his current interests (legos) and how much we love him and love how excited he gets about the holidays. They are simple notes of love and affection.

Here's a look at the two letters:

Great idea. I wish I had all the Christmas notes I wrote to my son over the years but didn't save. I won't make that mistake with my granddaughter!

    Ali-
    I've got 2 questions for you -
    1. The December Daily template vol. 2 that you posted - can that be resized as I am doing an 8x8 album - using the same instructions you explained in the Yesterday Today tutorial? I plan to purchase this template if so :)
    2. On the dec 1, 2, 3, etc overlay/brush I am having difficulty moving it around once I resize it and move it my document - i can't move it around once I let go of my initial move to the doc (i hope that makes sense!). Is there something I am missing, because it worked for you in the tutorial you posted a couple days ago? I checked the layers palette and I am on the correct panel. Any thoughts would be great ! I am loving doing the dd album

I love this idea. Definitely an advantage to working with paper/physical objects over digital in this case. Maybe next year I'll have enough scrapbooking under my belt to feel comfortable leaving my computer screen. Or perhaps I'll find some way to work this in.

Hi, Ali, a couple questions about journaling...
When you print text from your printer, what type of paper do you use so that it doesn't smear? Another related quesiton, when you handwrite your journaling, what type of paper/pen do you use? I have tried so many different pens, but they all seem to bleed and skip when I write...I would like to handwrite most of my journaling, but have yet to find a good paper to pen match...

Hi Jennifer - I print on a variety of different papers: photo paper, canvas, cardstock, etc. Are you having issues with smearing? Usually I will set the paper settings to reflect whatever surface it is that I am printing on (heavyweight, photo, etc). I handwrite on just about everything also and most of the time use Precision Pens from American Crafts (either those or Slick Writers). I have used these pens for quite a few years now and continue to be happy with them.
