December Daily 2009 : Day Two (+ Photo Overlay Video Tutorial)

SUPPLIES : #2: Tim Holtz; Basic Uppercase Stamps: Hero Arts; Joy Letters: Little Yellow Bicycle; Ink: StazOn Black Cherry; Journal Card: Jenni Bowlin

Today I worked with a baseball card page protector that was cut down to fit inside the 8x8 page protector that came with the album I am using. I really like keeping a couple of them "open" to the pages that follow.

Here's a look at the page inside the album:

I was thinking this morning about the process of building my December Daily. I was thinking how I don't always love the individual pages but what I do love is the totality of the project, the end result. Don't let a lack of love for any one page keep you from moving forward and don't let a quest to make it all perfect stop you from documenting the goodness of the season.

As I begin opening up my Christmas tubs and transforming our home into a den of twinkle lights I am reminded how much I love to savor this season.

Bring on the twinkle.

I also have a few new holiday things available at Designer Digitals

If you need some simple gift tags I created a new set that are now available at Designer Digitals. The downloadable file includes PDF files that are all set up and ready to be printed (in red & green). These were all punched with a Marvy 2-Inch circle punch

If you are still looking for fun digital or printable numbers to add to your December Daily these Half-Circle Number Embellishments I released back in July would also work really well.

I posted a video tutorial on how to work with these elements here.

In addition I put together a short tutorial on working with the 25 Days of December overlays that I used on my photo in Day One. You can click on the link below to see a larger version.

Ali-- I totally love what you said at the end of your post about not always liking the individual pages but lovin' the end result of the whole project. I was there yesterday when creating my day 1 page and I had to let it go. Because in the end...i'm going to love the whole process and album. Thanks so much for that reminder!
The tags are beautiful! And thanks for the tutorial!!

Command in MAC is Ctrl in a PC.
    Option is Alt.
    :)
Great (totally an understatement) layout, as always!!!

I think you're right. The hole ensemble is what makes it great. The problem is if I work too long on one (scrapbook) side I start to like it less and less. But perhaps I have to try some material mixing to overcome this dilemma.. Thank you for the inspiration!

    Ali,
This is the first time attempting to scrapbook digitally. I got the 25 Days of December overlays and I'm trying to follow your video, however, whenI go to file to open up the file in Photoshop Element I get an error message stating it cannot open it is the wrong type of file. Did I do something wrong when I downloaded it. Please help me.

So helpful this makes things so easy. Sometime I don't purchase digital stuff because I am not sure how to use them. Thank you for showing use how to use the 25 days overlays.

Another great page! Love the idea of using the baseball card holder within another page. I'm going to have to try that!

I just buy your Half-circle numbers and I love it!!! Your DD is just my "open-mind-needed", you know? And because I am French, I say to you "Merci beaucoup Ali pour ton enthousiasme et ton talent". I love so much this album and 'cause my husband is very ill and hospitalized from the 1st of December, I think this album save my family and my mind. Thanks a lot.

I AM SO HAPPY THAT YOU HAVE PAGES YOU DON'T LOVE EITHER! Yes, I meant to type that in caps. I started Nov 26th and like all pages except Dec 1, so far. A whole page of handwritten words, but no pictures, which bummed me out. The back of the page has a spot, but I'm not inpsired. So, decided to move on and let it go. And, then I read your post. Thanks.

Ali, I'm doing a December Daily album -- it's all done...just adding the pictures and journaling. Would you mind sharing where you found that big white grid pad where your Dec. 2 page is resting on? Need one for my desk. Thanks!

I do love how you work the clear pockets! Once into the new year I'd like and give 'em a try. Also, thanks for the reminder to remain focused on the overall finished project. I'm thoroughly enjoying seeking Christmas through my lens again this year.

How right you are in recognizing that you don't have to love each individual page in order to love the entire project. Thanks for sharing.
