Looking For Non-Toy Stocking Ideas

Running errands and catching up on some stuff around here today and thinking about stocking stuffers. I would love to hear if you have any traditions/favorites that are not toys to go in a child's or an adult's stocking. Anything beyond books, movies, candy, oranges, etc?

Hope to have Days 7 & 8 of my December Daily up tomorrow.

I always do magazines for everyone. Sometimes a special interest/hobby (like an astronomy magazine or quilting or cooking) or one of the Life or Time special issues that they come out with this time or year.
    Other faves:
    - chapstick (cause they always seem to disappear)
    - razor blade refills (for the girls)
    - perfume/body spray
My grandma always put a lottery ticket in everyone's stocking!

I also have a little girl and she is getting a new sippy cup, one of those cute beanies that the flowers attach to, some hair bows, a toothbrush, fruit snacks and some socks. Adults are harder but I always think of practical things like shaving cream and razors. My hubby is getting an iTunes gift card! Thanks for posting this...great ideas here!

Since we have always been an all adult household, stocking stuffers include lottery tickets and four toothbrushes (one for each quater of the year) and dental floss. No one in the house is a dentist.

Travel size cards or games for road/plane trips. We also like to give favorite restuarant gift cards as a treat as well. Special, keepsake ornaments are always a great gift, even ones that hold a picture.

    Hello
I always give a new cool toothbrush to each family member along with a new tube of toothpaste! More fun for the kiddos! I also always do cute little underwear for my girls, they love seeing what designs they get.

Scratch off lottery tickets, special underwear (days of the week when my daughter was little or funny boxers for my son), cool socks, tickets to local theater or events are few of the things we do or have done.

Love the "night out w/ Mom and Dad" part of this gift. We do the gift cards in ours but the night out is REALLY special since we have 4 kids to split our time among. Thanks.

Hot wheels, Starbucks cards, lottery tickets, hand lotions and body wash, travel games, itunes gift card, magazine subscriptions, cute notecards. Don't forget to do one for you! That's how I got all of my matching Kitchen-Aid cooking utensils. Everytime I went to the store, I picked up one item so it didn't kill my wallet!

Wow, what great ideas above! Thanks for Ali!!
Santa always leaves a banana in my son's stocking and he thinks it's hilarious, so that's a tradition in our house.
For my husband, I always put: floss, lip balm, magazines, chocolates etc.
For my son, apart from small toys or treats, I'll put floss (the kind that comes in individual pieces with handles), and new socks.

Each one of my six kids gets a ornament for their collection, a book, legos ( smalll kits for the boys) , card games, cds, movies, manicure kits for the girls(15&21)plus the traditional candy and stuff. And a card Thanking them for being in my life and why I am grateful for them. This lets my husband and I get a little extra sleep while the kids "open" their stockings.

These are all great ideas! Every year I put in my kids sock: a movie,a boardgame, fuzzy socks, a book, new toothbrush and toothpaste, hot wheels (for son), hair stuff (for daughter), underwear, new crayola markers, and some fun treats that we don't usually buy....a can of PRINGLES chips is always a hit!

McDonald's, specialty ice cream shop or favorite fast food coupon, quarters for an arcade trip, movie ticks or roller skating certificate, disposable camera, and what would Christmas be w/o socks, a new toothbrush and chapstick?!! Love the scotch tape idea...seeing as how I never have any when I go to get it thanks to my 9-year-old! My college boys love certificates for Starbucks and to go out to eat, since being full time students their funds are limited and it is a treat not to have to eat in the cafe once in a while!

We always include chapsticks, a new pair of mittens/gloves (magic gloves are perfect), a new toothbrush, bath scrubbies, ponytail holders/barettes if appropriate, and gift cards (usually $5 cards to Starbucks, Coldstone, etc.). This year each kid (mine are a little older) is getting a 4gb thumb drive!
