Image created via Wordle.

I spent a couple hours yesterday going back through all the comments listing your one little words and the reasons/thoughts behind them. It's always so cool to see all these words listed together. I am working on a layout for my word this year and hope to share it next week.

Below, the words. If I accidentally missed yours please add a comment below and I will add it to the list (I am updating throughout the day). These words are beautiful and powerful and subtle and really can make a difference in your life. Cheers to 2010.

One of the big things I noticed as I read back through all the words
yesterday is that most people want to make some sort of change in their
lives such as a subtraction or an addition. You might be interested in checking out Leo Batuba's (Zen Habits) new blog about habits
called 6 Changes.

My word for the year is "faith" - faith in God to take care of me in His way and faith in myself. I need to finally believe that my ideas and feelings are valid and good. I need to quit trying to please everyone else and work on being myself, whatever that might mean. I also need to have faith in others and believe that other people can have my best interest at heart.

I love that you posted all these words. I was a little hesitant to name mine, which is my name, because it isn't really a word you find in the dictionary :) But it's the word that represents this year for me so why not!

Wow - this is really powerful - I haven't previously submitted a word and was reading the list to select one and was really considering DO I have lots I want to DO! But while trying it on for size and reviewing my personal resolutions I decided a better word for me is actually DONE -- I do lots of things more accurately I start lots of things. For 2010 I need to get things DONE -- either finish things I have started or let them go and be DONE with them -- my goal in this is less clutter in my home and mind.

Thanks to an idea from my friend I am celebrating a letter instead of a word. The letter F: FAITH. FAMILY. FRIENDS.
She is celebrating L: LOVE. LAUGH. LEARN.

    "Tenderness"
Towards myself, my babies, my family, my life, my decisions, my thoughts, my words, my world around me ...

This is such a cool idea! My word is niche. I have found where I belong socially and romantically, and now it is time to embark on the solo journey of choosing a fulfilling career for myself that will make me happy in years to come. 2009 was a terrible year for this, so I hope that 2010 brings with it self discovery and awareness that will help me realize my potential.

my word is YES..being such an organized crafty fanatic..i structure myself into corners that squelch my thinking and dreaming heart and cause me to fear. so, YES is my word--to walk in truth, YES-- to live and not be afraid, and YES-- to jump into the spontaneous unknown even of I didnt schedule it on my calendar :)

Hi Ali. I have been following your blog since the beginning of time (or so it seems!!!!)I have chosen a word each year, but with little ones under foot, I have never managed to do anything with my word. This year, my baby girl goes to school....No kids at home (goodness, what will I do?) so my word is 'rejuvenate' Finding myself again!
Thanks so much for the inspiration!

    Hi Ali,
THanks again for doing the word of the year...this is my 4th year doing it (i think!) and I just love it!
So...with a new baby in the house, a new house, and so much going on...my word for 2010 is Simplicity. It was a tough choice between that and plain Simplify...but I like the beauty of the word Simplicity. That not only does it encompass "simplify" but also encourages me to love a more simple existance. Not only to enjoy the little things...but the freedom to get rid of the things that clutter up my life. From boxes that have moved and moved and still aren't open. To the extra baby items that we just don't need. I will win the war on clutter...and I will enjoy a more freeing, simple kind of life. :)
I wish you and your beautiful family love and happiness this upcoming year!
    Smiles, Candace

I had an immediate list of about 8 words - but it took a friend suggesting one that really hit home. CULTIVATE. It's what I do. It's what I love. I teach, coach, mentor, sponsor - in the professional world and in my own hobby world. This will be a great chance to really focus on it with clear vision and notice and maybe even measure what gets cultivated throughout the year.
    Thanks so much!!!

    I have chosen .. participate.
I have found myself retreating more and more from being involved and taking part in many aspects of my life; instead, allowing life to just meander along without very much input from me at all.
So I am choosing to make a conscious choice to participate more in the day-to-day things going on around me.
