We celebrated sweet little Anna girl yesterday with a small gathering of family and a couple very special friends. It was just right. Thanks for all the well-wishes and happy birthday's yesterday.
Made her sweet little hat after downloading this digital hat pattern from Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs and reading this tutorial from Childhood 101. Totally a last minute thing and throughout the process I was so happy and thankful that I am a scrapbooker/crafter who has random supplies on hand (like extra fabric pieces and wonder under and trims).
The poms are from this wonderful etsy shop Pom Love. I love them and will be moving them into her room.
I found this ceramic number one at an antique store in the beginning of January – it made for a nice centerpiece with some white tulips.
And the birthday girl? She was so happy (even when she had decided that yesterday was a really good day not to take a nap until about 4pm). This shot of Chris and I each holding her hand while everyone sang Happy Birthday is probably my favorite.
She didn't dive into the cake like I thought she might (she's definitely a grabber) but enjoyed a few bits before she was ready to get out of the chair and go play.
Anna got a new chair for her birthday. A nice little match to the one that Simon has had and used since he was two or three (from Pottery Barn kids). I took this photo of the two of them the other day:

What a sweetheart! I love the poms, and its sweet that you had the number 1 in advance. It remindes me of my baby who is now 1 1/2. She wants to talk so badly and will look you in the eye and recite a whole paragraph worth of baby talk and wait for a response. She’s got about half a dozen words she says consistently now too. They are so precious at this age. Hugs to you and yours from me and my baby.
Oh what a angel face! She is surely growing up fast and the image of you, Ali!. I am so glad I have a daughter. There is NOTHING like having a little pink around the house. Love my boys too but my heart always longed for a girl. Love the pics of you both holding her hand. A memory captured in time forever. So sweet…

My baby’s first birthday was in january, and what a mess, she hated the amount of people, it was a mess. That’s life.

Thank you for sharing with us Anna’s first birthday! I feel like I’ve shared in her growing up and it’s just such a joy to see your love radiate through her and Simon! The idea for the chairs is wonderful. We have two children, our son Tony is 5 years old and our daughter Liliana is 9 months old and this would be such a great gift for them this year!

Looks like she had a lovely day. And nothing better than making your own decisions when you are 1. Both of mine wouldn’t have a morning nap on their party day. Seemed they knew something was going on. Even though both parties didn’t start till after their normal nap time! I love seeing the photos on your wall. Would love to know more. I would like to update my own.

First of all cute, cute, baby girl and cute son!I wanted to say that I watched an interview at Scrap in Style that featured you and your work. You mentioned that you would most likely have one child. I think what is great about that, to just go back to the word of the year, is that it is funny how a story changes.
