Welcoming Other Voices In Your Scrapbooks & Designer Digitals Sale
When was the last time you included a different "voice," other than your own, when telling your stories?
Emails, letters, conversations, or simply asking/letting your kids or other family members contribute to your stories is a great way to make your layouts and albums even richer. It's totally possible you have an email or a note that could be used on your next layout.
The layout above includes an email sent to me by one of our babysitters about Anna. It's a great snapshot of what she sees about Anna right now. Little notes like this are treasures - not only does it express how much she cares about Anna but it captures a whole other piece of her life today.

Hey Ali - great post! I actually did this very thing on one of my Y&T stories. I chose a picture of myself when I was two or so, opening a gift. Don't really know the story behind the photo. . . but I paired the photo with words my mom wrote on a thank you card to me for giving her a surprise b-day party when she turned 70. I love it! Enjoy time with your sister. . . those moments and memories are the best :)

Ali, just a curiosity question. Do you use a pen tablet to create your word brushes or do you write on real paper and then scan or photograph to create your brushes? Having a hard time with my pen tablet and totally thinking about forgetting the whole and doing the real paper/scan thing.

I love it when my husband is willing to give me a few words for a page about him-- I found a place online where I could even make a font out of his handwriting for free!!), so even if he can't (or doesn't want) to write the caption itself, I can still have his handwriting on "record"

You must be in head!!! I am actually scrapbooking some of my childhood photos right now and I have asked my mom to do the journaling. I asked that she write it out in her own hand so that I not only have her memories but her handwriting as well.

Those cheeks are so gosh-darn adorable! Love the picture of the teeth stickin' out.
I just wanted to mention how inspired I have been by your line stacked journaling. It adds a great design impact to journaling. I am totallly hooked on that idea right now and am planning to use it on a page very soon. Thanks for the much-needed inspiration.

What a great layout and photo!
Today's post hit close to home for me. My Father died January 3rd, after two months in and out of intensive care. Eight weeks onboard a rollercoaster. After Dad died, I wanted to put together a scrapbook for Mom...but...and it's a big BUT...the problem was how to make a complete picture of life during November and December...if mine was the only voice that was heard.
Ultimately, I used photos taken by at least a dozen differnt family members, caring bridge posts as well as comments left in the guestbook, my daughter's eulogy for her Grandpa, a number of Mom's recipes that Dad loved...in other words, I strove to hear as many voices as possible. The only way, I could find to effectively do that was in a shutterfly book form.

I think it worked.

Hi Nancy - I do both. For single words I usually use the tablet and for sentences/stacks/etc I use pen & paper & scan.
