Week In The Life : Tuesday
Hey there, how's it going?
Yesterday I took 128 photos (on Monday I took 92). Will I use them all? NO WAY. Many of them are repeats or different angles or blurry or trial images of the same subject. Next week, when I put the album together, I will go through each day and select the ones that best tell the story.
Any photos that don't make it into the album may be used to tell other stories in my regular scrapbooks. Maybe. And maybe not. One of the beautiful things about this project is that the photos themselves bring up other stories you may have been wanting to tell or you'll find things that are important to you that hold stories that you should tell.
I would love for you to share links to your favorite photo taken so far in the comments section. If you don't have a link you can just describe the shot and tell why you love it. There is magic in this process of capturing your everyday life.
I also wanted to re-post another of my favorite quotes about everyday life. This one's from Anna Quindlen:
..but the biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while
doing this. I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly
clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There
is one picture of the three on them sitting in the grass on a quilt in
the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4, and 1. And I
wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how
they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I
had not been in a hurry to get on to the next things: dinner, bath,
book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the
getting it done a little less.
I hope you have a great day today and I hope you roll with this process. Maybe you will write more or less today or maybe you will take a 100 photos or just a few - whatever you collect is just right and will give a peek into your daily life in April 2010.
Enjoy your Wednesday.
Here's a look at some of my favorite photos from Tuesday:
My journaling today was handwritten on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. I jotted down times & activities throughout the day. I'll post it next week when I show how I put my album together. I'm thinking I might just slip it into a page protector as a new page for Tuesday...

Something that is especially important to me today is my house. As I was driving off I realized just how much I love this house, the memories we have created here for the past 10 years and our neighbors. Often it is when we loose things or people that are precious to us do we realize this and wish....but for me today it was just a reminder of how much I have enjoyed being here. I also realize that it is not the outside walls of our home that make it special but the love and laughter on the inside that I cherish so much. Can't wait to see who wins the big give-away next Monday. Have a great rest of the week and enjoy those pictures!! xoxoxox - Diana

loving this project - my first time. I've been posting some of the photos on my blog http://helenascreativemaven.blogspot.com/
My favourite from Wednesday was taken during the final of my favourite TV show this year. My favourite from Tuesday was the coffee cup and papers on a cafe table - I love working in a cafe.
I have written on all of mine digitally - and am using Ali's hand drawn boxes for this.

I am just loving this process. My word this year was (be) present..as in be present in the moment. So this is just helping me do that. Especially as we await baby number two after a seven year gap. He/She arrives in three weeks and I am enjoying recording what life was like "before". LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! stephxx

I love the opening page of you and your daughter, so sweet that she let you capture that moment. I looked thru both of your days and love how it's looking. Great journaling and pictures. That's a good picture of you for the second page opener also, your facial expression is mysterious I loved that you had your tea also. Have fun with the rest can't wait to see what the end result will look like.

Well I decided to do a mini recap of my week so far since I just noticed this AMAZING challenge! I always seem to take a picture of my day no matter what I am doing. I always feel like my camera helps me catch those memories that otherwise would be forgot in the hussle of life :) -http://scrapbookmamaof4kidz.blogspot.com/2010/04/so-im-of-to-late-start-so-here-we-go.html
Thank you so much for doing this!

Thanks Ali for this--I took all of the pictures in 2008 but never made the book--I am determined to this time! My fav pic is from yesterday--my 22 year old surprised me and came home from college ( I think to do laundry) :) but she was quietly knitting on the couch when I came home from work--I didn't even know she knew how!!

I use a Canon 5D...but what's giving me these wider shots is the 24-70 lens.

Well, I don't have a way to link you but I can describe the one photo that I took yesterday: It's looking down the loooooong room toward the targets set up in an indoor firing range. It represents both the place that I spent my day AND the fact that I'm in the middle of tackling something that I've been afraid of doing: taking all of the (practical) tests that will allow me to renew my law enforcement certification. They're tough and I'm a lot older than the first time that I went through them. Fortunately I'm a girl, so I can 'dance in high heels; backwards!' ;) LOL!!

Hi Ali- I have a request :) Could you try to have people who don't have children or even those who are part time parents (weekends mostly), post what their week in the life projects looks like for those of us who don't have what I stated above? I'd volunteer but I didn't start on monday- i wish i would have since this week was pretty crazy... Thanks :)

My favorite shot is a picture of my son pushing the elevator button at our apartment: http://tykergirl.wordpress.com/2010/04/19/where-do-i-begin/ (in the middle). Compositionally it leaves a lot to be desired--it's blurry, the lightenings goofy, etc. But, emotionally it's just right. It captures this time where we are right now. We won't always live in an apartment, where the decision of who gets to push the button is so important. And, those fingers won't always be so chubby that are doing the pushing. That's why I can't say enough thank you for the push to take this chance to document our right now.
