Sending out thoughts of thanksgiving to all the men & women who are connected to the military. Our family appreciates your service and your sacrifice.

STORIES OF SUMMER : In a few weeks I will be launching a new series called Stories Of Summer. I'm looking to include projects and layouts from readers that tell stories about summertime: details, adventures, travels, everyday stuff, celebrations, etc. Do you have a project or layout you would like to share? Email projects to storiesofsummer@aliedwardsdesign.com with Stories of Summer in the subject line. Submission deadline is June 9th.

Your thanksgiving is appreciated by many, I'm sure. Today is a special day for my husband - the last day of his 20 year career in the US Marine Corps. Tomorrow, he will be officially "retired".
Quick question about your Stories of Summer - is there a deadline for submissions? Thanks. :)

I'm not sure I understand how the Stories of Summer is going to work. Is this a project for all of us to particpate in or something you are going to use on your blog?

I've decided today, to stop worrying about what I can't change that happened yesterday, stop worrying about what will come tomorrow, and enjoy my family, right now, each second...I've missed to much being "busy". I intend to document our summer with vigor, and look forward to your contest!

Hi Rebekah - it's not a project, it's more like a series of articles about documenting summer. Right now I am looking for layouts and projects to include from readers as examples...these will be used in addition to showing projects/layouts I have created.

Love your military picture Ali. Just had a picnic with the family, played basketball in the rain. For once I didn't take pictures just sat on the sidelines and cheered for my son playing with the "big guys" for the first time. I love the idea of your summer project. I hope I understand it ok, I can just send you picturs of some favorite layouts I've done in the summertime. Have a great day with your family.

Great idea Ali. My girls are big softball players and it takes up almost every week of our summer. Here's a mini album I created using two envelopes and old ledger pages. I'll add a photo or two from each ballgame so I can keep a little brag book with me.

I've sent a couple of my Summer layouts.
We don't have Memorial Day here in the UK, we have Remembrance Sunday http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remembrance_Sunday in November, when we lay poppy wreaths in memory of the fallen. Good that we all take time to remember.

You know, I really need to be better about recording summer memories. I started looking through pictures of layouts on my computer just now and realized there is a serious dearth of summer in my recent pages. I'm looking forward to the series!

Do these have to be new and never-before-seen? I have a couple from the last couple years that might work, but they are up in galleries now.

Eric left again at 3am this morning. It's been a hard day. I think the holidays are the worst to be left alone.

My father-in-law is buried @ Arlington. Ever since I got married, this holiday definitely takes on a new meaning for me.
Quick question re: summer stuff. If it's a project (vs. a layout) are you looking for a tutorial/how to? Or simply just photos??

Hi Elizabeth - a project could be either...a how-to or simply photos. I would recommend just emailing the photos first and I can let you know if a tutorial will fit with what I am putting together for the two-week period. I'm in the planning phase right now.
