Just about every week of the year I have new digital products available at Designer Digitals. Every couple of weeks I include a new hand drawn package of word brushes.
Today I wanted to share with you some of my most recent additions and include a video tutorial that walks you through the steps of adding these brushes to your photos in Photoshop Elements.

Thanks, Ali! I was using your products more readily right after your YT class, but I kind of got out of the habit of thinking about them. I forgot how cool & easy they are! I have several (um…as in SEVERAL! haha!) products of yours from DD, so this was a great reminder! Thanks!!
Great video Ali! I’ve used one of your brushes before on a photo, but it’s been a while. I find that when I get out of practice on something with PSE it takes a while to ‘learn’ it again, so your video was very helpful!
Ali,
Do you have to have Photoshop for these? I would love to buy a lot of your stuff but I don’t have Photoshop. I am wondering if there is a basic version of Photoshop that I could buy and use. I have several photo-editing programs that suit me just fine and I really don’t want to spend a lot of money on an expensive version of Photoshop. I’ll check on that but I wondered if you knew if your digital elements would work with a basic version.
Thanks. I’m enjoying the photographic growth of Anna and always look forward to Simon’s loving notes!

Hi Terri – what program(s) are you using? I know that you can open the .png files in Word and have done that in the past. Any program that can open a .png file should allow you to use these products.
Photoshop Elements is the basic photoshop program – there is a free trial available at Adobe.com. The price for Elements is usually less than $100.
Awesome Ali! Thanks for making a video for those if us who need a visual!
Love the brushes.
Great video ali! Thanks for asking that question Terri! I do not have Photoshop either, but I would love to be able to use these wonderful brushes!
Ali, I love your DD stuff but may I please put in a request? For those of us who aren’t “digi” yet, I love hybrid stuff. You put out some really cool hybrid (printable) elements lately, as did CZ (labels, I believe?) and I would love to see more of that. I buy that stuff like it’s going out of style. (d’oh!)
) Thank you!!
Any info available as to when Designer Digitals is planning on another of their sales so that we can stock up?
They have a sale every quarter
. The last one was a few weeks back.
I’ll definitely keep that in mind – thanks Melissa!
Your video was reall helpful. What Avenir font do you use? I have heard of it before, but there seem to be a bunch of different ones. Thanks.
Thanks Ali for the video. I’ve used several of your word brushed and phrases in this exact way… I think they are great for this purpose. Also I’ve read your blog for at least a year now and this was the first time I’ve ever heard your voice… always neat I think when you read or see someone a lot and then finally hear them speak. Anywho.. thanks again!
Thanks for the refresher! I think I’ll get back to using this technique and my word art library for my summer photos.
Okay. I found a cheap version of Elements and I got a teacher discount to boot! I was somehow under the impression that it cost $800- maybe when it first came out back in ancient times?
Thanks for the encouragement!
Terri
Thanks for the video – I am new at photoshop and have always wanted to try your brushes. Can’t wait to give it try!
Thanks for the tutorial, Ali! I love the look of journaling directly on a photo.
Thanks for the tutorial…for some reason, I completely forgot how to change the color of a brush! Hello!
Thanks again, and as always, I get so much out of your blog posts!
Ali I have not know how to use this kind of thing before but have SO wanted to…so THANK YOU for the tute! Am off to download the trial photoshop version and perhaps buy P.ELements too. Thank you again!

Ali, how do you make these video tutorials? I need to make something similar for work (unfortunately nothing as exciting as digital scrapbooking) and I have only found expensive software to do it, I’m hoping to find a low-cost or free option.
Hi – I use Screenflow. It’s been a great program.
Thanks so much for the video tutorial, Ali. I played around with Adobe PSE and your brush elements and LOVED the results.
