A New Chapter & We Don’t Remember Days Scrapbook Layout

AE_WeDontRememberDays_web

We are packing up and beginning a new chapter in our lives this week in a new home (same town, different house). I'm taking lots of deep breaths, cleaning out things we don't need or love, and generally looking forward to a bit more space for the four of us.

As I start the process of packing up my office I'm once again reminded how inspiring it can be to just go through the products I have in my possession. I'm unearthing patterns and products I'd forgotten about and looking forward to using them in some upcoming projects after we get settled in our new space (trying to remember to take notes as I go).

The layout you see here was completed this past weekend. The pieces had been sitting on my table for quite awhile, waiting for the chance to find a home on a layout. My friend Kim took this shot of Anna a couple weeks ago and dropped off a print for me (she's the best) – there's nothing better than a print in hand to inspire me to get something glued down.

I've got a thing for this fabric paper. I love the texture and the color and that it's adhesive backed. For this page I used the Corner Chomper (works great on fabric, acrylic, etc), rounded three corners and then hand-draw the fourth to become a home for journaling. Simple hand-written storytelling talks a bit about what Anna was doing at the time the photo was taken.

This past week my friend Kelly Rae Roberts launched a brand new ebook series: Flying Lessons: Tips & Tricks To Help Your Creative Business Soar. Based on the content from her recent (very awesome & inspiring) e-course, she released four ebooks that cover parts one, two, three or you can purchase "the whole shebang" which combines the first three books into one big package.

I was lucky to preview her online proofs of these PDF books when we were at the coast a couple weeks back and they are beautifully designed. I especially like that they are interactive PDF's full of links and examples to help you launch, nurture or grow your creative business.

Click here to learn more and make sure to click through to each "All The Details Here" page where she shows you examples of what's included as well as content specifics for what you will find in each of the PDF books. Highly recommended.

How exciting for your family moving into a new bigger home. You have had a very busy summer how did you do it all especially the packing with kids around and it being summertime and your vacation. You must be so organized. It will be fun to see pictures of your new house and a little sad for me too, I really liked your old house and the lighting you had there. Best wishes for your new house and new memories there.
So what does Simon think about moving? Did he get to see the house before you bought it? Is he helping to pack up his stuff?
Thanks for sharing this new chapter with us. Love this photo of Anna as always she is just so precious.

All your followers (including me) must be so excited to see photos of your new home and the process of moving. I also wonder how you do all that you do – tons of energy expended – running, bicycling, swimming with your kids, creating all the wonderful inspirational layouts, taking care of your family . . .you are a perfect example of the kind of women we want to be. Thanks for being a wonderful role model for all of us.

Hey, Ali – there’s an error in the link code for the corner chopper. You want to try again if you get a chance? :)

I’m really not all that organized on this front :) . I’m already one of those people that regularly purges things so we don’t have a ton of stuff…but I’m realizing again that we do have LOTS of stuff that is not either used or loved.
Simon is actually really excited about moving! He did see the house before we embarked on the purchasing process. He’s excited about the backyard – lots of room to explore.
Yesterday the neighbor kids were over here and they wanted to help pack so they worked together to re-organize and pack Simon’s legos and other toys in his room. They worked hard (with a pizza feast for dinner).

That photo of Anna is so cute! It must be so exciting moving into a new house, though at the same time quite stressful.
Just wanted to let you know that the links to the supplies at the bottom of your post are not working.

Thanks Smriti – can you tell me what happens when you click? When I test them they are all opening here on my computer.

My family just moved as well, and it felt sooo good to go through ‘EVERYTHING’ and purge and simplify. I told myself with every box full, Do I love this? Will I use this definitely? Will I be searching for this if I lose this thing? So much fun to set up ‘home’ somewhere new. All fresh and ready for new memories! Remember to take lots of photos along the way, and I would love to see photos of the new place. Congrats!

Thank you for sharing this layout of Anna. it is precious! I must say this quote to myself 100x a day- “We do not remember days, we remember moments.” I have it all over my house! It helps to keep things in perspective and that moments change all too fast. I’m off to find that paper, so I can make a layout too. :)
Best of luck to you with the move! So excited for your family!

How long have you been where you are at? It seems like you moved there not that long ago to me, but I suppose it has been a few years. Seems like the time flies by so quickly! Beautiful LO! Good luck with the move!

Oh my goodness, I must have missed a post somewhere – didn’t realise you were moving house! Hoping it is all going well for you, as you say goodbye and hello (now there’s a LO title for you!), and that Anna and Simon settle well. A lovely page – you do pretty and apparently simple so well.

Good luck with your move. It is always a lot of work but also a lot of excitement :) We just moved from Ontario to British Columbia a month ago and now we are waiting for our house to be finished (end of November) so we are going to move again soon. But we can’t wait!!
I’m looking forward to see some photos of your new home!

Good luck with the move. I’m getting ready to move too. We’re looking for a bigger house as we anticipate the birth of our little one. I can’t wait to see your new space and what you do with the kids rooms. I’m looking for inspiration as I will be setting up a nursery soon.
    You are so inspiring!

Holy cow, you are just so calm about the statement of moving this week. What a great thing, though. We moved 2 years ago to this current home and I love it. It is a constant work in progress (older home), but we have the space we needed. I keep reminding my husband it is a pace not a race. It is very relaxing to me to have the space for our family of 4. I wish the same for you!!
Also, it was so nice to go through everything before we moved and weed through it. I love being organized!!

I love your helpful and encouraging posts Ali. I have a question of an entirely different nature: I would like to start a blog but really want it to journal personal notes of my own journey – not for public, maybe eventually family. I do like the format of blogs and posting photos etc. Is there a way to do this?
Best wishes on your move – have done it several times, but unfortunately I am not a purger!

Congrats on the move to a new house Ali! Funny how one little person can make a comfortable home just a little too small. We moved when we had our 3rd child and it just made it a little easier to breathe. :-) You have had a busy summer. We will miss you this week as we welcome Teresa Collins to Bonney Lake, but will have to make some time to get down to Eugene soon. We need some Ali time!!You always inspire my creativity!(Hugs) to you and your family!

Good luck with the move! How exciting a new home a new begining. The only thing I really like about moving was that it was a great kick start to clean out and find things you did realise you had or had lost.
