PEEK AT THE PROCESS | I knew three things for sure when I started the creative process for the layout featured above:
1. I wanted to use the photo of Simon reading in the tree and I wanted it to be bigger than 4x6.
2. I wanted to use the July 2010 stamp set.
3. I wanted to use elements from the Studio Calico September 2010 kit.
I started by cutting out the strip of numbers from the Jenni Bowlin pattern paper. At this point in the process I wasn't too sure what the end layout design was going to look like but I had a general idea to use that number strip as an anchor along the bottom of the main content.
After stamping the Capture Life rectangle above on the cream cardstock I decided to repeat that basic shape using pattern papers (sometimes I just stamp and go for it). I love the technique of repetition.
To give the design a bit of variety I mixed up the height of the rectangles.
Each of the pattern paper rectangles was adhered to the cream cardstock. I added a bit of stitching around two of them. These rectangles would make great homes for additional embellishments if you were creating a page similar to this and wanted to add more.
As you might notice I ended up cutting out this whole area with the cream cardstock background and adhering it to white cardstock.
My initial plan was to have the chipboard title just along the top. I ended up adding "& Read A Book" towards the end of the process. Because that all happened at the end I trimmed some white cardstock off the top to make the margins between the edge of the chipboard letters and the cardstock even.
To complete the page I adhered it to the dark navy lined pattern paper and added zig zag stitching and a little bit of journaling.

I'd love to see a stamp with fairytale phrase like "And they lived happily ever after" or other common phrases. I think this would be cute and serve a variety of purposes. Quotes are always fun to use on stamp products because they are versatile.

LOVE your TT stamp sets. How about a theme of "for the love of coffee"? You could have phrases and coffee cups, mugs, latte cups (like from those famous coffee places!) Thanks for the chance to win!

So much to comment on this time. The photo of Simon in the tree reminds me of my son (almost 41) who used to always take his books up into the tree to read. And, I love your new stamp sets. Would love to have some for my birthday—which happens to be TODAY! So pick me, please, Ali!!

I love the idea of a big brother/little sister line. It is so hard to find stuff that says this.

I find all of the sets so versatile, which is what I love about them. I'd suggest something geared towards older children (cool, dude, etc.) or school focused (homework, learning, etc.).

Ali, this layout is lovely. Since I've got a three year old, I'm thinking a set all about growing and learning would be nice. Hybrid is my thing so maybe even a DD kit with this theme who be awesome. Thanks and have a great weekend!

This was a tough question! I love some of the answers that others have given - my favorite so far was the "slang phrases of today". Now THAT would be cool!

Hmm, how about an alpha with a twist? Like, each letter stamp could also include some other text, such as "is for" or a word beginning with that letter.

I love the detials on the layout! I could name a dozen different ideas I would love to see in stamps from you. The first 2 that came to me were Everyday Life phrases and baby/toddler girl phrases (such as pretty in pink, tomboy, pigtails, etc.)

Super, super layout - just love it :-)
Frankly I imagine I'd totally love any idea you came up with, Ali, but I'm really into little journaling spots right now - frames and such like - the 'Hello Life' set, for example!! I love frames with a simple word or words built in so I can pick the sentiment that goes with my journaling. And (as you can tell by the number of times I've used the word in this comment) I'd be particularly interested in a set of 'love' themed frames :-)

I'm not sure if you've done this so far, but I'd love to have a set of "About Me" stamps. 'I Am ...', 'I Can ...', giving us words to describe and advocate ourselves. Not so much "I am Woman, hear me roar!" but more simplistic in giving ourselves allowance to speak of and describe ourselves.
Hope that makes sense!
