This & That | Updates

Coming home means lots of things to share that have been piling up.

Here's a few things that might be of interest to you:

December Daily 2010 | I'm in the final stages of picking an album and plan to work on my December Daily foundation over the next few days. Look for a full post at the end of next week.

ScrapMap Event in Italy 2011 | The next event I'm scheduled to participate in is a Tour of Tuscany with ScrapMap in October 2011. I'll be teaching two classes in addition to touring around Tuscany. ScrapMap offers a payment plan and full refund up until final payment date. Check out the itinerary and more details here.

Elsie's Photo Journals | Elsie's offering a new instant e-course of 14 super cute, fun minibooks. The workshop includes photos, tips & tricks, technique tutorials and tons of visual inspiration. See more preview images and get more information here.

Layout A Day with Lain Ehmann | I recently had a great phone conversation/interview with Lain Ehmann for her October Layout A Day series. Here's what Lain has to say about this 31-day challenge: "Layout A Day (LOAD) is a month-long scrapbooking challenge that will give you new inspiration, daily challenges, whiter teeth, and minty-fresh breath! October's theme is "Story," and we'll be exploring how to incorporate our personal stories into our scrapbook pages (no, it's not all about journaling!). Participants will be treated to a daily inspiration e-mail, audio interviews with fantastic storytellers like Ali Edwards, Celeste Smith, Noell Hyman, and Katrina Kennedy, an online gallery and message board, and a chance to win fabuloust prizes." Sign up and more info here.

The Daily Digi | The Daily Digi has a brand new subscription service called The Digi Game available for their monthly collaboration kits (The Digi Files) and Playbooks. Check out all the details and options on this new service here.

AE Freebie | Don't miss the Love You digital scrapbook freebie over on my Projects blog.

Oh my! The tour of Tuscany with you sounds like heaven! I have to think about whether I could possibly make that happen. On another note, I can't believe we are talking about December already. Where does time fly. Welcome home and back to the busy life!

December Daily sound like a great idea. I will for sure have to check more into this. I'm loving the LOAD, I've not had a lot of inspiration lately. FYI, my scrap studio looks like that always, thanks to my DD! :)

Any ideas for the December Daily for those who will be travelling during the holidays and not decorating or doing the 'normal' stuff of the holidays and how to incorporate a 'holiday spirit' into the december daily.

Love all this info your giving us. Can't wait to see what you've planned for your December Daily, it will be my first and I'm so excited. So far I purchased a little christmas theme journal to keep all my notes and ideas in. Your studio looks like my scraparea right now, hoping to get it organzied soon. Have a great fall weekend home with your family.

Hey Ali I had a quick question..I remember you posting sometime back that you were in the process of digitizing all your family photos..I wanted to know if you used any particular website or photo program?? At what dpi did you scan all the photos ?? And how you organised them?? I'm going back home (india) for few months and i would like to digitize my parents' & in-laws photos. Any inputs would help..Thanks :)

Hi Charmi - I used Scan Digital (http://www.scandigital.com/) to have a bunch of my older photos digitized. It was not inexpensive, but it's done. In general if you scan them you'll want to do it at at least 300dpi - many people would suggest higher. I cover more about this in my class at Big Picture called Yesterday + Today (coming again in January 2011). My cousin took a bunch of our grandparents heritage photos to Kinko's and had them scanned in there. scanCafe (http://www.scancafe.com/) is another service I've heard good things about.

I completed my Dec daily last year for the first time. I adore looking back through it. I've already got my supplies ready to start this years one in between moving home and taking care of a newborn and 2 others, 3yrs and under. Heck, it's the only way I'll probably remember the season!
