December Daily 2010 | Keeping Your Eyes Open
I've been keeping my eyes open for little bits of this and that which can possibly be added to my album in December.
In the image above I've got a coffee cup cover from Starbucks (not sure the wording on there could be any more perfect) and the bottom tags are from an early gift I receive from a friend from West Elm. Not sure I'll use them but they sure look cool. I've got a little bag of these goodies on my desk just waiting to be used.
Here's a few other things on my list to share with you today:
- There's so much visual inspiration out there this time of year. The catalogs are even more inspiring than usual - I've been pulling out pages to put in my holiday inspiration binder (great posts here from Molly and Marta on setting up your own).
- Working on a tutorial post for working with the 6x8 digital layered templates - needing to pick up some ink today for my printer to get some samples ready to show. Hope to have that up this weekend or early next week.
- A thought I shared on Facebook + Twitter this morning: Don't stress if you album feels "disjointed" right now. Your own photos and words will tie it all together.
- I absolutely loved seeing all the links to your foundation albums! Thank you for sharing your creations. I can't wait to see those books filled with the images and stories of December.
There's definitely still time to put your own December Daily album together. Go here for more information.
I saved that exact same coffee cozy earlier this week!
Me too!

I am hoping to finish my foundation pages this weekend. But I am using a combination of my monthly kit from Jenni Bowlin which this month was a wonderful collection of red and black. And last year I saved all the Christmas cards sent to me - and using the cards (or pieces of the cards) on the pages as accents. I am happy with how it is turinging out. I hope to post it this weekend, and will link up with you! Thank you for introducing me to this fun project! It is my thrid year of putting one together.
Michelle, that is a wonderful idea to use cards you received! To have continuity with memories from last year into this year, as well as use pretty designs.
thanks for sharing!

I may have to make a Starbucks run this weekend! This my first attempt at a December Daily album. I've got my foundation pages basically done. They got more and more simple as I went along and I started holding off on putting the numbers down. I'm going to try to finish up my front and back covers this weekend.
I'm glad you said that about your pages getting more simple! I have about 10 pages done and feel like they are too complicated! I also stopped putting my numbers down. Glad to hear I am on the right track! (this is obviously my first time!)
Dana, I'm keeping my pages simple as well. I will be adding few embellishments as days will go but don't plan to do too much though.
Michelle - This is my first try at a December Daily too. I'm excited to get going on it.

I saved a few of those coffee sleeves and couldn't believe how PERFECT they were for daily December. I also asked a lady at the counter for the little bag (that pastries come in) and I have that saved.

Ever since I first saw those coffee sleeves I thought of you and wondered if YOU had designed it! :)

Great minds think alike. I saved my Starbucks sleeve too. I love their slogan this holiday season.
This is unrelated Ali, but just wondering if you are going to be doing a tutorial for the Love You Because templates. I bought them but failing miserably when it comes to trying to make them a two page layout like you did.
Also, having trouble copying the DD widget to my blog. Anyone else having trouble?
One more thing, Is it December yet??????
I do have a tutorial for that on my list...might be awhile with December Daily right around the corner.
For the banner - have you tried both codes? (the one in the little box + then the one below) What blog program do you use?
Hi Ali, Thanks for the update on the tutorial. As for the blog program, I use blogspot??? If that is in fact the program name. I am pretty new to the whole blogging thing. I have tried both codes and all that appears on my blog is a little blue box with a ? inside. It does take you to your website when you click on it, but the logo isn't showing up.
I had trouble with blogspot too. Copying and pasting didn't work from the original post where Ali explains, but then I happened upon another area on Ali's blog with the link to copy, and that one worked. Not sure where I found it though, sorry.
I'm a Typepad user and they say it is "so easy" to add a widget, but I have tried both codes and followed their video on how to add it to the sidebar, but no luck. Anybody have some input on what I'm possibly doing wrong? I'd be so grateful.

I also already have my Starbucks wrapper in my December Daily box. Also have the tags from the new Christmas Eve pajamas for the kids that are already wrapped, the list of all the events/things I want to make sure to include this year, and a blank CD so I can copy all of our photos from the season onto a CD and put in the pocket I've included in the back of my album. Can't wait to get started.
I love the idea of putting a CD in the back of the album! Then I can have all the pictures even if they didn't make the cut. :)
I agree, I LOVE the idea of the CD included in the album! Would make it easy to grab pictures down the line, if you wanted to print some Christmas pictures of JUST Christmas time!

Thanks for the reminder of keeping an eye out for possible things to add to the album!
I still have some work left to get all my foundation pages done, but I am definitely not far away. I am much looking forward to your post on the 6x8 templates (already bought them) to get some ideas on how they can be used!

I noticed this sentiment the other day too! These make a cute mini album...made one for my sister this time last year.

Stil working on my foundation pages, but hesitant to put the numbers on them in case I want to move things around or pick certain base pages to go with pics... Not sure!
I've used Ali's '25' logo on each page in my album, but won't write the actual day on them until I'm happy with what I've produced that day. Hope this helps.

It was my daughter who immediately noticed the Starbucks wording last week when we bought our weekly treat and said "Look Mom, you can use this for scrapbooking!" How quickly we rub off on our kids ;)

I haven't saved one of those sleeves YET but as soon as the calendar says it's Dec 1st and I feel like I can officially get an eggnog latte (I'm kinda strange that way!) - the sleeve will be going into the album!!
I'm almost ready to post my foundation album. In fact, as soon as the baby goes down for a nap and I can spread the pages out all over the living room floor I will start taking pictures! Thanks for your comment about not worrying if it feels disjointed. I was looking at it last night thinking I was doing something wrong because it felt like it wasn't coming together quite how I'd pictured it. But I will persevere!! Thanks again Ali!

Heh, I'm joining the "club of those who saved these and thought of you as soon as soon as they saw them" :-)
Can't wait to use it!

That's hysterical- I don't even go to Starbuck's normally, but yesterday I went specifically to pick up some of those covers (and a salted caramel hot chocolate) and was so excited to see the saying. I picked up two with only a few strange glances from the other customers. Is it weird to go places specifically for Dec Daily ephemera??? :) Today we made some fake snow so I kept the packaging for that too...At this rate this album's going to be FULL. hee hee.
So funny. I did the same thing after work. I never go to Starbucks.

Oh Ali, yesterday I was so happy to drink Starbucks gingerbread latte again after waiting almost a year! And I noticed their motto too. I love the saying and I definitely will use it in my December Daily cause I'm a big fan of Starbucks. Thank you for sharing inspiration!

My husband made a Starbucks run from work the other day for me just to get my coffee cup sleeve and pastery bags to add to my Dec. Daily. He has been on the lookout for unique items to add to my album and believe me when I tell you I was totally floored and I think maybe just maybe he listens when I talk about scrapbooking!
