December Daily 2010 | Day Four

Welcome to Day Four.

Today I'm mixing things up by adding 4, 4x6 photos. To include them in the album I adhered two back to back and punched holes (2 holes). I use rolling adhesive to adhere them together. More images below.

Adhering photos back to back is a great way to include more photos into minibooks.

I started Day Four with another 6x8 photo - I might just keep doing that all the way through and I might not. Right now they are making me really happy.

The word art on the photo is from my December Sentiment Strips package at Designer Digitals.

Here's a look at that first 4x6 photo. Along the side is a 1/2 a cute little circle from Bananafish Studio.

The back photo is one of Simon in the car. Love. The pen I used is another from that same set of Pitt Artist metallic pens from Faber-Castell.

A look at the spread:

On to the other side of the transparent paper:

Close up of the second set of 4x6 photos:

And the back side of this 4x6:

This 4x6 uses the other half of the circle accent from the first 4x6.

You might also noticed that I oriented one set of 4x6 photos with the top two holes and the other set with the bottom two holes. I like the balance that gives to the book.

Journaling went onto a photo again. Simple and easy. Paper along the bottom is from the Anna Griffin Georgette Cardstock pack.

A closer look:

JOURNALING : It’s hard to pass up a chance to visit the snow. Katie & Peter met us at our house around 7am and we started the hour or so drive up to Willamette Pass. The plan was to see the snow, do a bit of sledding, hang out for just awhile and then come back home for the Oregon v. Oregon State football game. It was Anna’s first time to the mountains and she did better than I thought with the cold. I carried her a bit but she also wanted to walk and check things out. Simon was in heaven. He loves the snow and could have stayed up there much longer than we did - this might be the year to get him on some skis. Both Chris I and remember how much we liked being in the mountain snow as kids - the awesome quiet, riding the chair lift, the speed coming down. I’m totally hoping this is the first of many more trips up there this season.

Ali, I notice that you do not have a photo of you in your pages yet. I know how easy that is to do when you are the one behind the camera. So waiting to see the page with you in it. Am so loving playing along. Thanks for the inspiration.

You're right Elizabeth and I've noticed there is no picture of myself in my December Daily so far either... I should pay attention to this!

Ali, it looks like you and your family had a lot of fun in the mountains! Can't wait to go there myself at Christmas...

Thank you, thank you for your encouragement & inspiration. Your photos today are making me homesick for Canada. We're slowly adding Alabama traditions to our season!

Such a gorgeous set of photos for this year's album. London's small amount of snow has upped and gone.

I wish we got snow in Hong Kong! I would love to have photos like yours... my album seems rather amateurish in comparison!

I still love your simple approch. Yet it is still clasic and stylish, and I think that why it is, cause it is simple. but beautiful. I am finding am being a 'perfectionist" again and trying to add too much to "decorate" so chekcing your layouts each days brings me back down to what i wanted. Photos and journaling. :)

As always, I am enjoying following along with your December Daily. This is my third year to do an album for our family. I do it all digitally - we watch the pages unfold as the wallpaper on my computer. Then we print them all as a book at the end of the season. It makes for a great present for the grandparents since we live so far away from them. Your link program this year has be staying caught up rather than leaving some things for the weekends to do. Thanks.

I've been taking pictures and now have my supplies ready to go. What spacing did you use for your holes, as I'm modeling my book after yours? Though my only snow will likely be the snowflakes that fall on my computer screen. I love Macs--I can instantly have snow, a Christmas tree, and lights.

love how you've put the text on the photo. I'm going to have to practice getting enough blank space beside my subject to make that work - it looks so classy.

Thanks Katie - I usually just move my subjects over to the left or right before adding text and printing.

You "just move the subject" - HOW??? (so often that would have been the answer to saving some of my photos!

      12/06/2010

I mean I crop off to the left or to the right so my subject is no longer in the middle of the photo.

I'm not sure if you noticed or not, but there is a small typo in the journaling. When you said Simon was in heaven, the next sentence starts as her instead of he. I am doing my first December Daily this year and am loving it!

Do you know where I can upload my dec daily templates and have them printed in 6x8? I have a cannon pixma ip4200 and for some reason when I print from photoshop elements the color is all wrong. Thanks. You taught me how to do hybrid scrapping with your tutorials and I can't bear the thought of not being able to incorpotate my new skills!

I don't know of a specific place that prints 6x8's. I do know that you can move your 6x8 onto an 8x10 (create a new canvas by going to File/New and entering in 8x10 at 300dpi). Save the 8x10 as a JPG and upload to an online developer. When you get the print then you can cut it down to 6x8.

If you go Ali's route (which is what I would do) you can also add a pair of 4x4 pics to your canvas either for this project or others and not lose the extra photo paper on there. I do this all the time when I want to print off size stuff at the developer. Also, Costco has an awesome price on 8x10's if that is an option for you.

Thank you! I'll try both these suggestions since we have costco up the street

Robyn, Costco also has 8x12, so you could print 2 photos side by side if you create an 8x12 canvas in photoshop :)

Persnickety Prints has 6x8 size photos. Look'em up. The prices are very reasonable, too!
