December Daily 2010 | Day Ten

Welcome to Day Ten!

Today I'm going very simple with just a couple photos printed here at home and a small piece of art from one of Anna's paintings.

Page one:

A 6x8 photo of ornaments that Anna made drying on newspaper.

Page two:

A photo of one of the ornaments in the tree with a photo of Anna from today layered on top. I used the same opacity technique under the journaling and the photo of Anna as I did a couple days ago (draw a new white box and adjust the opacity of the layer down to around 20% or so - the opacity slider is at the top of the Layers pallette).

Here's a close up of the bottom:

The paper along the bottom was trimmed from one of Anna's recent paintings.

This is so awesome Ali, you are so so cool to have her paint at such a young age. These look so great and she will love them.

Question, did you have the circles already cut out for her and how did you get her to only do a little paint on each one and what kind of paper did you use.

Katie (our babysitter) used a couple of my circle punches. She punched them and then gave them to Anna one at a time to add paint and/or crayons to each one. She used some of my cardstock - bazill white.

I have finally caught up! I am loving how my album is coming together and the eclectic mix of memories it has of this month - I have everything from buying Christmas PJs to the 50th anniversary of my favourite soap on tv!! I'm hand writing my journaling which I NEVER do on my scrapbook pages for some unknown reason and the album feels totally me and very free. Thanks for giving us the inspiration!

I love the idea of using artwork from your kids and how special it will be for them to look back at in a few years time.

    ali,

I just wanted to ask...your photos look amazing. Though I don't yet have a digital slr or anything like that, i really try to get the best I can from mine. (digital) I just wanted to ask, one day if you have time, if you please check out some of my photos on my blog and offer any tips or thoughts at all.....its a massive ask (you probably get thousands), but i thought id give it a go. (and anyone out there if they can)

Also, i get my photos printed up in BigW (store) I don't understand why some photos turn out really lovely (esp when printed in these 6x8) and look more than just amature photograghy while some are so pixalated or the out lines of everything are not clear/detailed even though i havent changed the zoom or anything like that? i dont know, i just get dissapointed sometimes when i picked up my photos. Sometimes its like the colour and darkness has been changed on me. Anyway, i hope you can share some thoughts on this.

    Thanks beke

I just love your pages Ali. We have no children left at home and our grandchildren live 3 hours away. I won't get to see them until Christmas but I'm still thrilled with taking photos and journaling MY December.
Thanks so much for sharing your time and talent!!

love this and I love how bright your photo's are! I have tried everything but mine look so dark! I shot all the pages to post by thee window with all the over head lights on - do you have a big bright white light over your table flooding it with light? Any tips would be greatful.
