December Daily 2010 | Day Twelve

Welcome to Day Twelve!

For many of us this is just about the half-way point of this project. My book is huge already!

Here in our house it was time to write letters to Santa. As I was deciding how I wanted to journal this page I went with writing my own letter to Santa.

I also scanned both pages in this time for a closer-look:

Gotta love Simon and his letter. When we visited Santa earlier this month he asked for the Harry Potter Lego sets and game but forgot to ask for a rubber duckie. He wanted to make sure that's what his letter said first and foremost.

I added little white tags with KI Memories Classic Red Sticklers Glitter Stickers as initials. The digital twill can be found in my Christmas Twill or Christmas Celebrations Elements Pack at Designer Digitals. The little red paper clips are from 7gypsies.

Here's the second page and my letter to Santa (went with the hand-drawn lines again):

And just another look at the tag + red glitter initial combo:

This is the first time I've done it that I can remember since I was a kid...seemed to fit with the page and was a fun twist on telling the story.

I love all three of your letters to Santa. And what a perfect picture to go with it. Beautiful.

Can I say it is so much fun seeing what you share with each day in this album, but today's journaling was especially fun. Love your letter to Santa, and Simon's letter, too. Asking for a duckie...he is adorable Ali! I can tell how proud you are of him.

I am so glad I'm doing this album this year. I know next year these photos and stories will be so precious to me. My album is not perfect...I don't really have lots of divine scrapbooking inspiration (lol!)...but it is all about my family's story and that in itself is something to treasure. :)

Absolutely - it's all about that (not about how "perfectly" we put it together).

Sweet page Ali and love the twist of you writing to Santa. Since I'm a 'bicycle Widow' this week, perhaps I'll write to Santa too!

How old is Anna? I am thinking she's quite a bit younger than my daughter, but I can't get my daughter to write a letter to Santa. It's the strangest thing. Those are great momentos! Enjoy!

She is almost two. I think it helps that Simon is so into it + she likes to color and draw. Not sure she "really" knew what we were doing but she was definitely willing.

ali, do you naturally write like you did on your santa letter, or do you have to make yourself write that way? it's beautiful!!

How great that they both wrote- I should have included my three year old too when doing a letter page. Love how practical your requests are!

Love this idea! My boy wrote his letter to Santa in July and raced it to the mail box before I could even read it! I'm only up to day 5 or 6, but I'm working on it. thank you for the inspiration

love it ali. i'm loving how simple your album is. this is my first year doing d.d.. i purchased a holiday 4x6 mini book from elise blaha and so far i'm all caught up. i'm making it really simple... 1 photo and some words. i'm giving myself a big pat-on-the-back.

I love today's pages, everyday I have to pick a new favorite page of yours. This was great for you to write to Santa also, think I will join in on the fun too. Your handwriting is beautiful. So funny how Simon wants a duckie, my bathroom is done in ducks so we have tons of them.

I'm loving this album so much, it will be hard for me to pack it away. Do you pack or wrap your albums in anything special or just put them in with all the other decorations? Thank you again for this project.

Thanks Ali, I like the idea of a ziplock bag to keep it all together, didn't want to lose anthing or have it loose shape either.

I usually just put them into a ziplock bag and they go in with my soft decorations.

I always struggle to know how to write my journaling, I am never sure who I am really addressing my words to ?

    Is that odd ?

I don't think it's odd, I think it's pretty normal. I try not to think about it too much and don't worry if it changes throughout the album. I often write "to" Simon or Anna...most of the time using "I" since it is me sharing my thoughts and feelings about their adventures.

Too funny! This morning I was thinking about including lists for my husband & myself since it would be fun to see how ours change (mine) or stay the same (hubbies) too. Love your take on it!

I love the letter to Santa for all 3 of you! I wrote out a letter for my daughter - perhaps I will do a real one and have her color on it too. What pens do you use for your hand-drawn lines?

I love following along with your December Daily. I don't have the time to do it this year, but I'm going to use the idea (and the templates) to do a January book. We are hosting an exchange student from China for the month of January, so I thought I would make it Red, White and Blue as a memento for him to take home to remember his time in America. Found some great transparencies online! Thanks for the idea, Ali! You're Awesome!
