December Daily 2010 | Day Twenty-Two

Welcome to Day Twenty-Two!

As we get close to Day 25, I think this is the first year that I've actually kept up with this project throughout the whole month.

In the past I've usually ended up posting a few days at a time as I played catch-up. It's been easier for me this year because (1) we've been home the whole time (meaning no travel) and (2) my work schedule has been more consistent than in past years. I'm thankful it's been this way this year as I know it won't be the same each year in the future - some years we travel, some years there are lots more things going on, etc.

I think so much of this project is simply about finding a way to make it work for you and your schedule and your life...and understanding that the story you tell each day doesn't have to be about the holiday.

Enlarged photo on page one is a photo of some candy for graham cracker houses. Pen used here is the Sharpie Poster-Paint Marker extra fine in white.

Page two today is a photo of Anna + Simon at the park.

Katie had taken them out to play and sent me this image via email. I decided to use the stamp filter in Photoshop (go to Filter/Sketch/Stamp). With one click it takes your photo from whatever came out of your camera to something like this (I had grey as my foreground color and white as my background color).

Around the photo I drew a frame and wrote "thankful for life...thankful for health...thankful for love."

To create the hole for the Snow Globe Sticker from K&Company I punched a hole with the blue Marvy circle punch.

I did the same thing with the pattern paper along the bottom.

The circle accent is a Snow Globe Sticker from K&Company. I've been wanting to use one of those all month.

SUPPLIES : Ali Edwards 2010 6×8 December Daily overlays; Snow Globe Sticker from K&Company; blue Marvy circle punch; The Girls Paperie Festive Brocade Pattern Paper; Sharpie Poster-Paint Markers extra fine white

very pretty! I've discovered and learned how to use actions in PSE yesterday so now am burning to try what I've learned on the next day photo too!:-)
Overall this project turned out for me a great motivation to learn new photography skills and my PSE skills went from big fat zero to pretty impressive for a beginner (at least!)

    Thank a lot Ali!

P.S. just wanted to double check if you had any time to look through fonts offered on Amazon on your CD and... in another post I wondered if you had any idea/suggestion how best to incorporate 1st of January? For us, as we celebrate the 31st like most people celebrate the 25th the first of Jan is the true "THE END" day with all the wrapping paper, presents and happy, tiered faces around the tree...

Lovely pages, and love the creativity! Now it is certainly close - our Christmas celebration is tomorrow already, and the kids are really waiting. I myself just long to sit down on the couch for a little while... :-)

(I cannot see this post on your projects website - could it be that it was not categorized?)

As a newbie I can't believe I have kept up and am thankful for these things: 1. Ali your words of "keeping it to the story.." this took the pressure off and kept me focused on what to shoot each day and what that would tell 2. Everyone's photos.. this was an inspiration and relaxation time for me to enjoy everyone's creativity.3. The size.. normally a 12 by 12 scrapper I enjoyed the smaller size which FOCUSED Me.. on the stories and photos..
Now for 2011 to learn photo shop I am lovin what you all are showing me... thanks a ton imafarmgirl

    Ali,
Thanks for your comments about finding a way that works for ME! I was doing well, keeping up day by day, and then I sort of stalled out. I have pictures - but just haven't gotten around to making the pages yet. My general pattern seems to be doing a handful of days at once. At any rate, I don't have that much farther to go. Hard to believe that a few short days after Christmas, I will no doubt have a completed album & will be able to look back on the entire month. Amazing.

Love the candy page, that's a cool dish to organize them in. I have a question about the candy, what is the green round ones and where did you get that color candy corn ( I love the colors) we did our houses already but would like to get them just to have? Thank you.

You always amaze me with your photos of the kids, such cool things you do to make it interesting and different. Love the little snowglobe sticker also. So awesome that you kept this up all month Ali. I did pretty good till just the other day, my daughter surprising us with a visit is keeping me more busy now, but I can't wait to finish it. Thank you so much and have a merry day.

I would like to say how much I have enjoyed your sites. Some sites I have wanted to leave a comment, but I cannot. What a wonderful job all of you have done. My site is under a little reconstruction today, but eventually I will finish the project and perhaps by Christmas day, maybe not. Blessings to all of you.

I love your page for yesterday. I is very cute. I have been only doing 1 page per day with some days having more than one page. i love each of yours and I love how these make me want to finish mine. I am doing mine digital and I will print them out in the next week. My printer is not working on my new computer so I will have them printed. Thanks for all the inspiration. BTW What printer do you use for your photos?

This is my 4th year doing DD but the first year I have truly made it a 'daily' album rather than just a collection of Christmas pages. I am still going strong. Some days I make three pages (if there was lots going on) and I just sub those in on the days that are a little quieter.

I expect lots of camera action over the next 48 hours or so... that should keep me making pages through the end of the month. :)

I love that you do daily posts - it's a great dose of inspiration each morning to keep me playing along.

I am away from my scrapping stash at the moment, so I'm going with the flow of just doing what I can by posting pictures and documenting a few memories + moments along the way. Really enjoying viewing the posts that others have linked up to on Ali's blog. Such a great thing you are doing for all of us Ali, thanks!

"Save as" will save your project as a new file, so you can rename it and your original will remain unaltered. If you're applying a fancy filter like what Ali did, I would definitely use "Save as"! :) Hope that helps!

LOVING all of these pages. Keeping it simple and telling the stories. Love it. Those pens make an amazing impact and love that you mix fonts with your handwriting.

Do you mind sharing the place that you got that divided dish? That is beautiful! Looking forward to seeing your Christmas Eve and Day pages!
