Loving
Loving Anna doing yoga.
Loving me doing yoga.
Loving how many times The Wizard of Oz has been watched since Christmas.
Loving the community that's developing around One Little Word (the class has open enrollment throughout the year so it's definitely not too late if you're interested in joining).
Loving that Project Life is now on my kitchen counter. I'll give an update in a post next week.
Loving reading through Karen Maezen Miller's blog archives and being inspired in all sorts of ways.
Loving commitments that I'm making to myself and keeping.
Loving that I roasted beets as a side dish for dinner the other night and Simon liked them (the kind of like where you can't help but smile when asked).
Loving that my parents will be here for Simon's birthday later this month. He will be 9.
Loving that I've got a date with a friend next week.
Loving that I'm almost done with the book Sabbath and I've enjoyed it so much I want to start it again.
Loving that it's almost the weekend and Simon and I are planning to take a test-run at doing some stop-animation with his legos.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Great photo of Anna. Can't wait to hear how your weekend Lego animation goes. That's something I've talked about with my boys. We've made scenes and taken photos for stories, but haven't yet done stop animation. Hope you have lots of fun!

Ali: Thanks for the book information, I am going to get this. I grew up keeping Sabbath and it was our family night. Friday night we would all sleep in the living room (6 kids) on the floor and pull out couch. My dad loved candles and it made such a safe atmosphere. I think he knew it would seem like a safe place for us kids to talk about our struggles that we had during the week and stuff. That was the time we would ask for "favors" because of the closeness and connection. We would play soft christian music or listen to stories or read books. It was often the "wind down" time. It peacefully brought in rest and reflection.
I did this same ritual with my kids growing up and they loved it. We had a fireplace so along with candles we would have it going too. We would do puzzles, read books, listen to Uncle Arthurs Bedtime stories, or Odyssey tapes. As they got older, the last tapes we listened to were the Narnia series. Then we watched our videos of when they were little but they would end up going to their bedrooms after.... They are now teenagers, and the only time we do this now, is when the Christmas tree is in the living room...(my tree isn't down yet, one last night of it tonight)
Then Saturday we would go to church and have family day after... a big lunch with friends or just us. Using the good dishes. It was so nice to have Sabbath and not worry about the TV being on. Back in the day, when a family just had 1 TV, this is what caused a lot of the fighting, especially with 6 kids. Sabbath was a nice break from it.... Kids are just over stimulated, and need a break too.
Anyways, there is a really good soothing CD I played for my kids. It is called 20 Years of Hope.... Last time I looked at the store, they didn't have it, I didn't check Amazon, but if you want I can send you a copy of it.
I am sure Simon would love the Narnia series in CD too. I got mine from the Christian Book Store, but I see on the package it says from Focus on the Family (I know they have a website that you could probably purchase them on)... Just thought I would offer the suggestion... Have a wonderful weekend!
I found "20 Years of Hope" on Amazon and ordered a used copy. Thank you for reccommending it. My copy is by Marantha Singers and I have some of their other music. What you said caught my eye, because my work is 'Hope".

loving that you highlighted what my "one little word" is...LOVING. Negative feelings can just fly out the window when you tell yourself to go write 10 sentences that start with "loving". Today, I am loving some blog browsing time.

I am loving knowing that another mom will be sharing lego moments with their son. Let the animation roll says, "My little lego guy." :)

You talk about the community of OLW. I feel like it is a "movement." I'm so inspired by everyone - it makes me feel like I am participating in Pay it Forward, or something similar...where thought and action creates your own reality...the way you want it to be, by doing...
Thanks!

Ali,
Seeing the wee Anna's pose reminded me of one of my favorites quotes...
"If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good."
