Thank you for reminding each of us to appreciate our quirks and unique attributes that nobody else possesses in quite the same combination as we do. =)

I love this. It's so easy to loose ourselves....from our own critiques, others' words, expectations, perceptions, and fear. Thanks for the reminder to stay true! :>

Here's to Individuality! My own daughter was crafted unique. When about 7 she was reprimanded by my son for trying to wear rubber boots to church with her pretty dress. She simply ignored him and said,"They're comfortable!" And walked away.
Fast forward to orange hair and wild funky pants in her teens. She would be stopped in the mall by other girls and be asked where she got her pants??? She's proudly say, "I made them!"
Fast forward again to her wedding in 2008, where she wore funky flowered running shoes under her wedding gown. Again, "I want to be comfortable all day. No spike heels for me! Not negotiable Mom!"
I'm so proud of her! Unique is beautiful!

THIS IS MY MANTRA!!!! Thanks Ali, you just seems to hit home when needed! This makes me love me for me, where I am at today and one day at a time where I may be to follow....constant evolving my unique "youness" as to dance to a different drummer!

Well said ALI. I would love to use this quote on a layout about my son who totally embraces his "youness" hope that's ok. I think it's more difficult for us then for our kids, who are different. I always remind my son that anyone can be the same, it takes someone special to be different.

Printing this out to have my husband hang in his classroom. I'm sure it'll strike a chord with the high school kids.

YEAH!!!! When someone says I'm weird, I just say "THANK YOU!!!"- because who wants to be normal, anyway?!

So so true. I am inspired to use the word different for my One Little Word for 2012, it will segue perfectly from my word for this year - soul - for being different both tests and fulfills the longings in our souls.

Thank you for posting this. I really needed to be reminded that following the less traveled path is ok and that it is who I am. Although from time others may trample on that path and make you question who you are, being your authentic self is all there is. I need to rememeber to surround myslef with those that celebrate and encourage this and ultimately dismiss the rest!
