Week In The Life 2011 | Friday Words + Photos

week in the life 2011 | friday

NUMBER OF PHOTOS FOR FRIDAY | 98

Before this week began I'd intended to focus more on the words this year. As it unfolded I found that for me it was easy to rely on the Daily Sheets for basic documentation and I actually wrote less than I might have without the sheets. That said, it will be interesting to see what happens when I go through the process of bringing it all together next week. It might be that by having the basic documentation on the Daily Sheets I'll be prompted to tell more stories because I have more starting points.

Or maybe for this year the Daily Sheets will be enough.

Katie and the kids adventured to the coast today and she took a bunch of photos along the way. She's been awesome throughout this whole week writing things down and taking photos.

Ali, everyday i´m SO looking forward to see your WITL-post. I´m so deeply in love with it! Can´t wait to see the whole album yet. ;)
And Katie did a great job with the photos on the beach. Love them, your kids are so beautiful!!! :)
I would love to know Ali if you edit your photos or if they are all SOOC?! If you edit them, would you mind sharing how you do that if that won´t take to much time? :)
    Thanks in advance! :)
    Greetings from Germany

Hi - these days I find that I'm lightening most of my photos just a bit using levels. I just drag the right side in a bit on the scale and most of the time that brightens it up just enough. That's it...I'm not interested in spending more time than that messing with my photos.

I am just stumbling across your blog. I follow you on twitter but am not sure how I started ANYWAYS, this is genius and I love it. Unfortunately I discovered this yesterday so I will have to begin on Monday I think and I will be on my own.

One thing I am not sure I understand is: Is this something you do one week per year or more often?

On a side note your family is beautiful and I love the navy and white dress you daughter has on. ADORABLE!

Thanks for SO MUCH inspiration. I look forward to next week being my WITL.

Hi Becky - welcome! This is a once-per-year project (it's too time consuming to do it more than that for me). I am doing a year-long project called Project Life which is more of a week-at-a-glance. You can check out my archives of that project here: http://aliedwards.com/projects/365-project-life

THANK YOU for sharing this idea. For giving me a goal, and a jumping-off point. Thank you for inspiring me to do this. I am loving it (even though it's a ton of work!) and at the end of the day when I look through the photos I've taken it's just the best.

that is so awesome that katie was helpful in writing stuff down and the photos she got are FABULOUS! and she's super cute and looks so fun to be around! i just LOVE LOVE LOVE this project! I looked back at the album I did in the fall 2008 when I did it and I LOVE IT SO MUCH! this week I have not had time to edit any of the photos, blog or anything. I have been more focused on homeschooling stuff(preparing!!) and living life. but next week I plan to get the photos printed and work on the journaling. The writing prompt sheets helped ALOT!
thank you Ali for doing this, I LOVE IT!

    Hi Ali!
    quick photography/camera question...
I'm going to upgrade my EOS Rebel XT (it's about 6-7yrs old now)
and I'm not sure if I should take the leap to the 5D. How did you decide on the 5D and are you happy that you did?
I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the 24-70 lens but I'm waffling on which body to get.
    Any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks so much :)

Totally love the 5D - it's a lot heavier which took a bit of getting used to but I don't regret upgrading at all.

    What a great photo's.
If I look back at these few days I see what I normally take for granted. The little things. Things like, the little notes my girls write to me often. that my littlest one always leaves 30 cc of milk in her bottle!!! I've got a long list written down. Sometimes our days are like a rollercoaster and now I can look back at some great pictures.
    Thanks Ali!

    Hi Ali,
I love how you remember to take simple photos of the everyday things, like the watermelon, shoes,Simon and Anna running and the take for granted type things. Like water the garden or laundry time. I managed to remember a some of those things but I have this urge to make the photo look good. I forget this not portrait photography!!! I am focusing more on the everyday activity. I had a "aah moment" in the pool doing exercise. I was floating on my back and out of the sky a feather land next to me. felt it was a celestial sign! I was able to keep the tiny feather and get a photo of it! I thought hmmm maybe my guardian angle or sign form above. Funny thing there are no trees or was there a bird to be seen anywhere????
thanks for all you inspiration. anxious to put it all together and see the finished result. Have a great weekend blessings and hugs,

    Sharon

Definitely not spending a lot of time. I often adjust the levels (I can do that in Aperture - the photo management program I use) to make the photos lighter and sometimes I crop, but that's about it. The two black and white ones were taken with photobooth and my iphone, respectively.

I, too, love the daily sheets. I haven't been very good the past two days at filling them out, but I have written something and am going back in a few minutes to fill in some blanks and catch up on today. THANK YOU!

Thanks to your dailiy-sheets I have at least some documentation. This was a crazy week for me dominated by sickness of the children and a lot of work. I have no idea what to do with my notices, so I am courious of what you will be doing.
I have made quite some photos, so i am looking forward to get it all together in some album.
Thanks Ali for motivating me to do that!
