Project Life | Week Thirty-Five

Welcome to Project Life | Week Thirty-Five.

Project Life | Week Thirty-Five

The week before school starts. Labor Day weekend on the Oregon coast. Major office cleaning. Simon deciding he was ready to write out Old Bear Stories.

The cream cheese package I added in because it's a big part of the morning routine for Simon especially - pretty much everyday he eats a small wheat bagel with cream cheese.

The first page of his Old Bear Stories - the rest of the pages are in his journal.

I held back on a few of the beach photos because I'd like to use them in a layout. I have no problem repeating photos in Project Life and on layouts, but this week I just felt like saving them for a layout.

All the labels I used this week (and the blue letter stickers) are from October Afternoon.

This album is getting thick. I'd hoped to have 2 albums but it looks like 3's what I need to do Project Life the way I like with all the inserts.

Someone on Twitter asked me what I'm doing in the places where one album breaks off into another. That's a good question. Right now I have the week split (half in the first album and the other half in the second album). Not sure that I'll do anything - maybe add in another page protector (so as not to break up the week) and just insert some of the decorative cards with a "continued in the next album" note. How are you guys approaching this?

A few weeks back Noell asked me about taking photos of Project Life or any projects inside page protectors. I've tried all kinds of different situations here in my house and here's what I've found works best around here:

I've got a little room at the entrance to my office (two months ago it was filled with stuff for our garage sale and now it's completely empty waiting for something) that has nice diffused light coming in the windows in the afternoon. It's too bright in the morning when the sun comes directly in through these windows, but by the afternoon it's really nice "simple" light. My goal when I'm taking photos of this album is to reduce the glare as much as possible and the diffused light really helps with that as well as the color balance (without doing any unique settings on my camera). Most of the time I shoot looking straight down at the album on the ground. Sometimes I get down on the ground at an angle for a close-up.

When I set the album on the floor I move it around a bit to find the place that has the least glare and no shadow from my body. Sometimes it's parallel to the windows and other times it's perpendicular. As I turn the album I'm able to move away from the glare. Lots of trial and error.

Project Life is a product created by Becky Higgins. It can be anything you want it to be. The pieces of the album kit (similar to the one I’m using) are available here. If you live outside the US check Becky’s site for more information on sources. View all my posts about Project Life here.
